Antonio Margarito by ud. Shane isn't exactly a smooth boxer or has enough power to keep Margarito from throwing 1000's of punches. In the fight I believe Margarito would outwork Shane and get the decision. Mosley is still good enough to keep it close. Prime Shane would whup Marg though
Tough to say because I think Mosely has what Cotto was missing on July to close the show with a victory. But don't really think Shane can pull it off right now. I'll go with Margarito being the first one to stop Shane in his career. 10th round tko win for Margo.
Not sure to be honest. This is a very good match-up and a fight I would definitely like to see if Mosley beats Mayorga and does it impressively. I think Mosley may have the advantage in the fight because he's got a very good chin and has better stamina than Cotto. If this fight goes to a the score cards, then I got Mosley by close decision.
Agreed. Mosley has a bit better stamina and can take a bit of a better punch. Shane COULD win this fight, but I'm not sure that he necessarily will. If he allows himself to fall into a 'shell' (as he often does when troubled) it could be a long night for him. But if he conserves energy and circules the ring, without throwing TOO much leather (a mistake I believe Cotto made) he can work his way to a points victory. He may even be able to gain more respect from Margo early, and I think Shane will find a way to be more successful going to the body than Cotto was.
Wouldn't a rematch between Shane/Cotto and Margo/Williams be better and have winners fight each other?
Shane is tougher than Cotto. He takes a better punch and even at 37 probably has better Stamina. I still think Margarito would win a decision though simply because he throws so many punches....but cougnuts510 is right....Shane is not nor has he ever been a really smooth boxer like Whitaker or Floyd. He basically just over powered and out hustled guys with his speed and power, especially at 135. He's never had a real jab either...he just paws with it. AM would win by deicision just because Mosely is to damn tough to get stopped by anybody at 147 IMO but he would probably take the worst beating of his life.
"On Saturday, Mosley will meet the always-colorful Ricardo Mayorga in HBO's 12-round junior middleweight main event at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. If Mosley wins, he would like to meet Antonio Margarito. It would be a tough fight, to be sure, but Mosley says he would welcome the challenge. " "He hints that, if the match were to be made, he wouldn't sink to one knee in the manner of Miguel Cotto. "I'm a tough guy," he said. "I can dish it out, and I can also take it." http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3602349
No doubt, but I heard that a Margarito-Mosley fight could happen early next year as part of the HBO double header featuring Cotto in the other fight.
Mosley already said in an interview that he wants this fight next and also said he's looking to exchange punches with Margarito. If Mosley applies that tactic instead of boxing and moving then he's in for hell. Margarito is the smartest pick for this one and possibly the favorite going into the fight.
Of course, to this day I'm still wondering why Cotto didn't counter to Margo's ribs. It was the best way to slow down a slow punching target.
