The Sugar Shane of the DLH fight takes on "King" Carlos in a 15 rounder (and I believe Shane could go 15 rounds anyway, that's why it's 15). Who wins?

Carlos was one of those fighters with not much by way of Flashy style, but an awful lot of unflashy substance, Carlos made habit of Hanging tough, soaking up an aggressors best then taking over, those "slow poison" left hook bodyshots having taken effect. Carlos could endure wars with Stracey, Muniz (x2) and Boy Green , he knew where to find them, making a bee-line for his chest and closing fast, but he will not get that type of predictable trench warfare from Shane...

I think its no coincidence that Carlos did not Like Movers he had to go Looking for, A frail but quick Hedgemon Lewis held him to draw, and of course he lost his title to the Mobile
Benitez, I think Shane will fight his usual fight, Moving and firing Quick Flurries, Where Carlos can anticipate and construct counter offensives when forced into Protracted Trench Warfare, Shanes fast Gorilla Raids, mixed with escape and Evade footwork, woud i think leave Carlos a frustrated One - One & Half Step Behind, In the lat few Rounds Carlos would be mounting his customary late charge, but its an uphill task against Ghost Squad Shane, Carlos can not quite take the Hill, Shane Clearly on point but the second half of the fight being Harder than the first half, Shanes Versatlity gets him home.

Colourful post there Area, good stuff.

It's an intriguing matchup, quite evenly matched if you ask me...Different strengths and abilities but I consider them almost equally as good overall at welter. I'd probably give Shane an edge with his extra speed and athleticism. But Id think Carlos would do better against some fighters than Shane would and vice versa.

I was watching the first Oscar-Mosley fight the other day and Shane looked brilliant in that fight. Wasn't just the "skilled brawler" that many people tag him with, he countered beautifully whilst getting pushed back and beat Oscar to the punch all night. Oscar was pretty much in his red hot prime in that fight and really didn't do much wrong apart from playing into Mosley's hands a little tactically..he was just beaten in nearly every area that night.

I do find it hard to see Carlos besting that version of Shane...he to would get beaten to the punch consistently and Shane's chin won't let CP turn this one around dramatically more often than not.

But IMO Carlos does ask some questions of Shane that I think really make this fight a doozy.
I can't help but remember the vicious body shots Mr Forrest drove into Shane's midsection that made his wince, coming darn close to stopping him in the first fight if you ask me.
Thats the kind of stuff the beerspoksmen does best, and on a fight in fight out basis better than Vernon.

Another thing that struck me in the Hoya fight is that Oscar fought pretty grounded and didnt really use ze gams as much as he could, certainly not as much as the rematch.
He fought in that usual high-handed style, 6 inches or so away from his face, ready to bat away incoming shots..this proved somewhat ineffective against the speed of Shane, especially once he starting to tire, who threaded shots throw and around that guard all night.
There was a distinct lack of head movement and correct positioning up close from Oscar that saw him get tagged a lot...when it comes to lateral movement and offsetting his opponents with flurries from the outside Oscar knows his **** but thats why I feel he did drop the ball tactically a little against Shane the first time around by not consistently using this approach more.

I feel Carlos has surprisingly slippery upperbody movement for a guy that is not a slickster by trade and he really knows he way inside and where to place himself to get leverage.

Thats why I reckon Carlos could really throw a spanner in the works in this fight. Shane is a better boxer than he is given credit for sometimes but he has that moniker of a "skilled brawler" for a reason and I think in a drawn out war that suits Carlos more than some people may want to admit.

Shane on points...but I dont think clearly as in wide, I think best case scenario by a couple whilst having a pretty tough time overall...worst case its highly debatable by the time the decision is read out.
