I'm sure I am going against the grain here but I honestly could see Ike winning this fight although the smart money would be on Shane. I could see Ike's hard left jab and high guard causing Shane a ton of problems and taking away his speed and combination punching. Winky Wright and Ike Quartey were really good friends that trained together in Flordia and fought basically the same style except Winky was a southpaw and more defensive and Ike definitely was more offensive and liked to through hooks. We all saw Winly use that same style to stiffel Shane's offense at 154. Could Quartey do the same? I think so. At 147 Ike was strong as hell and an extremely physical guy. We all saw him take a prime Osacr life and death at147 so I see know reason that he couldn't do the same to Shane.
On PAPER, Ike had the tools to beat Mosley. I just don't have an extreme amount of faith in Quartey on the big stage. I can't help but feel like he'd blow it down the stretch. Mosley probably scores a late knockdown, and outfights Ike in the last few rounds to win a close, probably contentious decision.
Excellent points. Though I would lean to Mosely your points are certainly valid, and worth a 2nd look at this match-up.
I definitely think Shane deserves to be the favorite. I just think if anyone has the style to beat him it's Ike. His close fights with Oscar, Vargas and Forrest proves he was in the same league. I had him beating Osacr by a point and thought he very cleanly beat Forrest in their fight. That was a terrible robbery.
