Not with out the uppercut, the man in your avatar as well as the one in mine knew how to throw an uppercut, Shane for whatever reason didn't but age did hurt him.

c'mon you guys, Floyd is not a god and he isn't almighty. he was shattered by that right hook and while he was doing everything he could to hold on and smother Mosley (for which I give him the highest possible credit) the outcome was still a result of a surprisingly POOR finishing by Shane Mosley. the rounds that followed didn't make Shane look like an idiot, the second round did. i'm still shocked a guy of his caliber and age couldn't muster intelligence to put an end to this trashtalking moron (who I must admit is a great fighter, no doubt).

Yeah It would've been the biggest win of his career, would've been the perfect ending to a good career, a solid uppercut or 2 was the difference last fight.

You guys are vastly over-estimating how hurt Floyd was. And how good a finisher Mosley is. The list of top quality fighters that he has KOed is: Mayorga, Vargas, Margarito. And all of those came later in his career, and in the case of Mayorga and Vargas, after they had already had their chins cracked by Tito and DLH.

Every other KO on his record is basically a no name. To say that he would have managed to KO a guy who has never been officially down in a fight, and is 41 and 0, is a pretty serious reach.

Anything to discredit the man. Anything. That's like saying that if Cotto had been wearing Reyes gloves and had a better uppercut that he'd have had Alvarez out of there. Yea, all that, plus if he'd been a much better fighter.

I will say this he wasted a lot of energy throwing haymakers in that round after he landed the first one. I feel those haymakers wore him out a little bit. Plus agree with the one poster about the uppercut he didnt utilize.

Honestly, I don't think he targeted his body enough. He should have thrown some deep right and left hooks in while he had an opportunity...

I disagree that Mosley isn't a huge puncher and a great finisher. When he can land his punches, he has devestating power.

It's just that Mayweather has a better chin than most suspected, trained too hard to lose, and managed to relax.

Mosley would have had a lesser fighter out of there.

It's just that Mayweather happens to be that good. In my opinion Mayweather answered some questions about his chin, and about how he would perform if he was hurt.

Why go after what Floyd is protecting? He might have been able to rip an uppercut or 2 in there but Floyd knew what he was doin.

Excellent point about relaxing. He maintained his composure and stuck to his game plan.

I have no idea why you brought this up, Floyd covered up when he got cracked, mosley wasted shots to the head area in which Floyd only left him gloves to hit, I was hoping shane would dig to the body rather than the head...
I still think had shane had reyes gloves Floyd would have hit the deck in that fight.

The second punch was the scorcher. It hit the ear area and took Floyds legs for a second or two. He recovered within 20 seconds and started countering Mosley.

Floyd reacts so quickly and strongly to the first right that it is clear to any seasoned fighter that the first big shot didn't rattle him all that badly.

All in all, I'd say the reason he didn't have a worse 2nd round than he did was because he was not at all as hurt as I hear claimed.
