Per Box Rec, looks like Shane's record at or near LW limit was 30-0, 28 KO's

Yep, and the lone decent fighter he faced during his reign (outside of smaller guys like Leija and Molina, who'd seen better days) was one of the two men he failed to KO. People get too caught up with his KO record. His opposition wasn't up to much at all.

I'd favour many fighters over him at Lightweight. He simply never had the boxing brain for me to think of him as a truly great fighter, even with the physical edges he'd hold over a lot of guys at Lightweight.

Well, agree to disagree. I feel those physical advantages are the reason he'd be favored.

Shane looked more one dimensional at WW to me. He ended up going away from body punching and relying more on the left hook, right hand. He also got discouraged easy when an opponent had the physical tools to impose themselves on him.

The only modern lightweight I have beating Mosley clearly, is Duran. Shane beats JCC.

Sugar Shane was a demolishing machine with both amazing handspeed, reflexes and powerpunching, just Phillip Holyday, the former South African World Titlist and one other foe went the distance. He decided to move up and face his buddy ODLH and was successful but he blew his advantages later with Vernon Forrest by standing up and throwing one big punch at a time to catch the rangy and elusive target. Shane blew it when he put those 12 pounds so suddenly and that's my own take, no matter how well that right hand worked against Hoya's left hook at the Staples.

I might get slap by this but I think Mosley is one of the most overrated fighters of all time, he's best and only good win is against DLH, A fight were I thought Oscar fought the wrong fight against Mosley he thought he could stay there trade and stop the smaller fighter coming up in weight and paid the price, We all saw what happen when DLH fought smart and boxed his ass in the rematch.

I think the experience helped Shane mature as a fighter at WW; I think people were so impressed by him at LW because his natural abilities were able to shine brighter, and often remember the second half of Mosley's career in comparison, which consisted of a departure from the great technical tools he had at his best (like relying and loading up on the right hand, neglecting body punching, neglecting head movement and angles, etc.). He was better at welter, but stood out more against the available competition at lightweight. At his best, in either case, he was an amazingly dynamic fighter with a complete defensive and offensive array of skills. I think his boxing ability and Ring IQ are underrated by many who forget (or never noticed) what he was once capable of doing with his mind behind all those physical gifts.

Yes he did feel more comfortable at WW! The reason? Fighting a the lower Division he was fighting for $300000, at WW he received $8mil for fighting Oscar.
