Shane Mosley's last 5 fights, Margarito win was overhyped

If you take a look at Mosley's last 5 fights he has looked horrible in 4 of them, the only fight in which he looked good was the Margarito fight.

That fight was not legitimate, either Margarito was grossly weight drained/not training or he was cheating in his previous fights at a blatant level. It just doesn't add up.

Mosley is lucky that Berto couldn't fight him, because he would have lost that fight and lost out on career paydays. Ortiz would also have beat him easily. Berto and Ortiz are better WWs than Mosley by far. If you think Ortiz vs. Mayweather is a tuneup....think again.

I agree that Berto would've beaten Mosley, but not Ortiz. Look, Ortiz' last 5 fights aren't all that either. Far from it. If the Margo fight was an anomaly for Mosley, you could say the same about the Berto fight for Ortiz.

I respectfully disagree. That was a good win for Shane. He had an excellent game plan, and executed it to near perfection. Shane is a better athlete than Margarito. A better boxer too. In fact, I think he would win convincingly if they fought today, despite how Shane looked prior to or after.

People like to make excuses (weight drained, distracted by the wraps incident) for Margarito in that fight. But, he is not the type of fighter that has ever given Shane problems.

    Styles make fights!

Berto would've given Mosely a good fight. But, I think Mosely would've knocked him out. Berto is flat footed, and can be hit. He leaves himself open seeking to tie up and catch a breath, frequently. A confident Mosley coming off the Margarito win would've been on a seek and destroy mission against Berto, had they fought January 2010, IMO. I think he would've stopped Ortiz too, had they met back then. Shane is strong at 147, when he actually commits to his punches, gains confidence from landing his shots, and uses his physical advantages.

But, after his domination at the hands of Floyd and Manny, I'm not sure what his mental state is now. Also, he looked like he couldn't let his hands go, in either of those fights. So, maybe he has slipped too far to compete with even the Berto and Ortiz types.

At this point, I need to see Mosley look good in a fight before I can make an assessment about how he'd do against either of these guys now.

Are you freaking serious. You are dissing an old Shane lmao. I expected him to beat Margarito, Mayorga and Cotto, and he almost beat Cotto. I just can't knock Shane the way your are trying to.

Shane is a bad matchup for Margarito no matter how you look at things. He was able to control distance and land power shots at will. And when Margarito breeched his comfort spacing, Shane would just collapse all the way into a clinch, which successfully disrupted any rhythm AM was able to mount. Unless Shane now completely shot after his defeat to Pac, I have no reason believe that a rematch against Margs wouldn't go the same way as their first fight.
