I have been curious about this for sometime now. Some people may automatically just assume it goes to Shane based on his credentials as a fighter. Im a big fan of Shane, but it "had" seemed that Shane's power had diminished a little when he came back to 147 after campaigning at 154 for awhile. I think he lost his explosiveness and some speed over the years. I can remember how he absolutely destroyed Shannon Taylor in 4 rounds or so back in the day. The same Shannon Taylor that has competed at 160 and 168 and till this day has never been knocked out like Shane did to him. When he came back down and fought Collazo,Estrada, and a couple other guys at 147 he didn't seem to show that same power, granted Estrada was a tough guy, and Collazo was slippery at times. Then he struggles with Mayorga and knocks him out in the last second of the last round, i think the knockout was due more to Mayorga being fatigue. He didn't seem too bothered by Shanes power earlier in the fight, but did feel the power of Tito and De la hoya through out his fight with them. THEN he absolutely destroys Margarito. The same Margarito who walked through Cotto and Cintron; who i think is a murderous puncher. I wonder sometimes was Margarito weight drained, because i still think Cintron is the biggest puncher n the division. Then there's zab Judah who despite not winning in his biggest fights, still carries alot of power. What makes zab's power so effective in my opinion is his blazing speed and south paw stance in addition to his heavy hands. He has the fastest hands in the welter weight division besides Andre Berto. Zab was the first to knock down Pineda(to my knowledge) AND the first one to knock down Spinks AND only person still to knock out Spinks. Spinks has since campaigned at 154 and has even fought Jermain Taylor, and Jermaine Taylor is a big middle weight with good power and speed and he couldnt even hurt Spinks. Zab also absolutely Destroyed Cosme Rivera in 3 rounds. The same Cosme Rivera that went the distance and gave big punching Joel Julio alot of trouble as well as Andre Berto. Also Zab Judah seemed to hurt Cotto more so than Sugar Shane did.

Well, according to Cotto Zab is the bigger puncher. Don't ask for a source because I don't remember where I read it but I know I did.

I'm not reading all that ****. Use paragraphs.

What I will say is that Judah was huge banger at 140 and also at 147 in his earlier fights. While I've never been too impressed with Shane's pop. He has good power I guess, but it ain't nothing special.

Dude, Tito hit him with every punch in the book and he took it for how long, if Shane had hit him that cleanly, that often, its conceivable he to would of knocked him out early to.

What about his stoppage win of Stone, that was brutal, Antonio Diaz?

He knocked out a weight drained Shannon Taylor fighting a coke habit.

Zab and Shane about even I think...I think Zab holds a slight edge in speed while shane and Zab have around the samepower AND THE RING SMARTS AND STAMINA I GIVE TO SHANE WITHOUT ANY QUESTION!

i think its close..... i think zab has more of a concussive power due to his (at his best) accuracy and speed on power shots he connects with, but i think mosley might have a bit heavier hands. To me their close.... at this point in time im gonna have to go with mosley, but when zab was crackin', i think its close.

No way could Zab even hurt Margarito much less stop him the way shane did. I think the ko over Mayorga was clean,It had more to do with Shanes power than Mayorga being tired,I cant picture Zab knocking out Mayorga either. I think Shane obviously hits harder. Also Zab was not the first to knockdown Pineda, who was dropped by Piccirello,Whittaker, and Mark Breland.

Zab also knocked estrada out in sparring with 16oz gloves and headgear..... who later went on to give mosley some tough moments.

i also think the that the mayorga shane fought, chin wise, was not even close to the mayorga that is known for his chin.

the margarito fight was insane and yes, i cant say i can see judah doing that. even if i question if margaritos chin was changed by cotto.

overall i give a slight edge to mosley in power, but judah could bang too.

The only example I'm going to use is Cotto. He fought both guys and he said himself that no one has hit him as hard as Zab. P4P I would say Judah has the most pop. He is the smaller of the two.

zab punches straighter and closer too hes body and really gets hes body behind his punches i would say from a closer distance zab punches may feel like there harder
because of the way cotto likes to crowd hes opponents maybe why he said that
moselys punches might not be as efective from close range

Remember thought that Shane said after the Margo fight he was used to fighting Mexican's... he was referring to Mexicans that have good chins, you can take them out by softening them up to the body. In the first round, if I recall correctly, Shane hurt Margarito early to the body, and did some body work throughout. There is also rumors of Margarito possibly being weight drained coming into the fight, combined with Shane's strategy and power = lights out for Margarito.

Anyways, on the thread subject, I think Shane's power is more proven against bigger/better competition.
