He hit Cotto with loads of big rights but didnt hurt him. Same with Collazo , Mayorga and Margarito. He has alot of Power but his one Punch Power is Overated , he wears you down at 147. At 135 he had very hard shots but at 147 while he has good power its not great IMO. He will have to Catch Floyd with a Perfect punch to get him in Trouble.
I'm not sure if citing Margarito backs your argument. He's the only person to KO the guy and other fighters (most noticably Cotto) couldn't get the guy off of him. But you're right that the punishment accumulates throughout the fight (like Cotto retreating a bit in the later rounds against Mosley).
its really irrelevant to suggest he hit so and so flush and couldnt hurt him that doesnt mean he cant or wont hurt or stop Mayweather, fighters keep that poker face he could have very well hurt cotto I know he did hurt Miguel with body shots and with some shots up stairs but Miguel can hide that hurt very well. the real question is can Mayweather deal with Mosleys power and who knows he might not be able to, but Floyd and you can expect this, Floyd will not stand in front of Mosley to find out, he will be on that bike and using the ring the entire night. if Mosley stops Floyd its going to be very odd in this forum.....
Yep a bunch of anti-Floyd boxing fans will pop up quicker than popcorn. This fight is a win/win for me because I'm a fan of both
Mosley was able to knock out Mrgarito because he was landing a crazy amount of flush haymakers, I think I coul'dve ko'd margarito if I was able to hit him that much and that hard. Mosley is vicious but his ko power isn't as effective as his physique would make you think. i think Mayweather will have a party with Mosley.
He stunned Cotto several times. He knocked Mayorga out with one punch. He stunned Margarito many times. And Marg has a concrete chin anyway. I guarantee you Shane has the power to knock Floyd out, or at least hurt him badly.
It's true that Margarito let Mosley land flush haymakers on him...but thats pretty much what Margarito has done. Cotto landed a lot of big haymakers on Margarito as well...but Cotto got tired and endured the far worse punishment in the end. It's not really his physique that makes people think Mosley is a big KO guy...its that he has 39 KO's in his 45 wins. That's a pretty high percentage. Of course, that number is way down when he fights the elites, the De La Hoyas, Wrights, Cottos. I think he only has one KO against an elite guy and that's Margarito.
Cotto wasn't able to get enough leverage as mosley was, Mosley's feet are a lot quicker than cotto's are so he had more time to set up. Cotto was landing textbook combinations they looked pretty for the judges, Mosley was swinging for the fences.
I completely ignore the Margarito fight when talking about how much Mosley has left. First off, Margarito blocks punches with his face, and second off, Margarito was caught attempting to cheat before the fight. I'm pretty sure that his mind was all messed up without his brick gloves, wondering what's going to happen to his career, etc. Instead I look to all of his other later career fights, and he has not looked great in a long time.
Look at the man's KO to Win Ratio, he is a puncher, he may not be Tommy Hearns or even Tito, but he has power, In fact, other than Pac, I don't think there is a bigger puncher at 147 at the moment. In regards to the guys he fought; Cotto was hurt and got on his bicycle Collazo was lucky to finish the fight. Mayorga was KO'd with 1 punch. Margarito may be a POS and a cheater BUT he does have a solid chin.
Cotto made him look bad but he did look good against Collazo and Vargas, I think he is still a good fighter BUT PBF really is catching him on the downside of his career. I don't believe the Mosley who jumped up 2 weight classes and beat ODLH would have had any trouble with Cotto.
