I think Cotto was a bit awkward for him stylistically. Cotto likes to lean forward and keep his head down, so Mosley was punching downwards throughout the fight. And at that point I don't think he realized how effective the uppercut would be on Cotto. I'm willing to give Mosley the benefit of the doubt on that fight.
Mosley can bang but he's not a devastating puncher by any means. On a scale of 1-10 I would rate his power as 7.5
Forgot what he did to Vargas, 1st match his eye looked like a bowling ball. 2nd fight he knocked him out.
yea cotto didnt drop margarito but best believe that ass was softened enough that when mosley got that cheating ass he was already tenderized...i see this being a good fight for 5 rounds then floyd will eventually start wearing that ass down
We could say the same **** about many fighters, Marquez was softened up by Pacquiao, Judah was softened up by Baldimor spinks and Tszyu, DLH was softened up by Mosley twice etc.... I dont think what happend in the Cotto fight had any effect on the Margarito vs Mosley fight, what I think happend was Tony did not take shane seriously and it showed he came into came at 170 with 6 weeks to train that alone will do it to you. in addition, mentally with all that went on prior to walking to the ring Margaritos mind set may not have been at all there after being caught red handed... Not saying Shane had any sort of advantage we just dont know, every fight has a different set of circumstances to it, we dont know what the circumstances will be on May 1st, but I can tell you this, this fight will not be in any way shape of form an easy fight for Floyd......
Mosley knocked out Mayorga with one punch AFTER he had Mayorga badly hurt. It wasn't a one shot out of nowhere KO.
the same ricardo mayorga who smokes cigs during training and has 0 technical skill and was GASSSED for air in the 12th.. he was just outa shape....
He has good power but not great power. I wouldn't consider him a ko artist but just one with heavy shots that stops opponents on accumulation like what Holy used to do.
Agreed, it's deceiving though. Never seen him straight floor anyone with one shot, especially at 147 or above.
at 147, his ko'd percentage dropped massively, but natrually so bc mosley is a small welterweight believe it or not. he did have to move up 2 division to get there. having said that, he KO'd vargas in the 2nd fight, shannon taylor with body shot, willy wise, and andrian stone he ****ed up with raw power. Not felix trinidad power but definitely raw power.
he has good power if you just stand infront of him like a dick head...his power is irrelevant against any fighter with ability to move
