I don't want to believe it. Mosley is one of my top 10-15 favorite fighters of all time. I'm a huge fan, but if it's ever proven, then **** him.
Isn't it premature to rank the Kessler win so highly when he is yet to even do anything of signifigance in his division? :huh That topic has already been beaten to death of course. My point isn't that Ottke is better, which I know he isn't. Moreso that Joe C didn't distrance himself from Ottke more then he could have. Look at the three names you list. 2 guys closer to retirement then prime, and another who's living off beating contenders.
I know exactly what your point is, and it still doesn't hold up from where I'm sitting. Ottke never beat any elite fighters legitimately, and only ever fought one. Whether they are old or not is neither here nor there, Ottke never beat any Eubanks, Hopkins or a young, undefeated and unified champ like Kessler Besides, you can rip any guys resume to **** with that sort of mentality. You criticise me for pointing out the obvious difference in how they beat their common opposition, yet its acceptable to get into a subjective debate on how past their prime they may be How much distance does one need? There is already a chasm. If only Ottke would fall in
I wasn't ripping anyone's resume. I just don't sugar coat **** because at the end of the day, it's still ****. And i am NOT saying his resume is **** BTW. Beating 'elite' fighters is just a tag some label a fighter to up their ante. Was Hopkins an elite 175er? I certainly don't think he was. How elite was Kessler? Was it simply out of default? Or was it beating Andrade that made him elite? Personally, I only label fighters elite when they've proven to be elite, over a series of fights. Untill Kessler does more, he's just a technicaly sound top contender. Until Hopkins does more @ 175, he's just an ATG but @ 160. If these are Joe's best wins, it really shows how little he has done compared to what could have been.
So Hopkins isn't an elite, even given his outstanding resume, and the fact he made the 'man' at 175 his prison ***** in a total domination Kessler isn't an elite, despite his obvious skillset and h2h potential So the resume and legit track record isn't impressing you, neither is the young lion. Kessler, and even old ass Hopkins are two of the elite fighters between 160-175 as far as I can see it. Please tell me who the elites are in your estimation, I'm struggling here? :huh
I said elite 175er. Hops is/was probably one of the better LtHW's. His win over Tarver was outstanding. But that was a couple of years ago and he's actually starting to look his age. We'll see how Hopkins does if he contiues to fight.
So we have to reappraise all Calzaghe's opponents after he beat their ass? Sounds like a cheap discrediting tactic, I hope you do that for everybody else... He isn't starting to look his age anymore than he did against Tarver and Winky-Wright. He was up against a better fighter that made him work at a difficult pace, that is the only difference We might as well face facts, Kessler and Hopkins are elite fighters in the 160-175 range. The best he could have fought at present. There is one fight against Pavlik to go, a much easier fight, and he'll have beaten the man at all these weights and this competition bull**** will finally be put to rest :happy
Bingo. Let's see the positive tests. All these are are allegations. Without a test, they're worthless.
mosley was never an atg to begin with. it'll hurt his legacy a little bit, but for the most part, people will remember him as a guy who gave 110 percent every fight and was a genuine good guy.
