Southpaw Whitaker gets flattened, just like every southpaw Tszyu faced. De La Hoya moved to W/W to avoid Tszyu. Chavez too inclined to trade punches with Tszyu... nye nye Chavez. Trinidad the biggest threat.
If Trinidad could not flatten an old Pea what chance has Tszyu ? Chavez in his prime was well capable of trading with Tszyu, prime Chavez was never stopped, prime Tszyu ? Prime Tszyu was put down by many a fighter. De La Hoya moved through divisions and fought Vargas, Quartey, Mosley and Trinidad at welter and light middle. There is nothing Tszyu posseses that those guys did not. He had no reason to avoid Tszyu, Tszyu could have gone after him if he had fancied it too. Whittaker fought so many big punchers and barely lost a round, he fought some fantastic boxers and dominated. He was a true champion through 4 weights , no one ever flattened him. This is not dissing Kostya just he is not as great as Australia thinks. I would add Mosley to the list of recent guys who would beat him too, and Quartey would have given him hell.
Tszyu was knocked down 4 times during his career. 2 times by Hurtado, once by Pineda and Phillips (balance) Whittaker was knocked down by Hurtado 5 times during a single fight. Barely losing a round? How many Whittaker fights have you seen? Tszyu was the only boxer to stop Chavez. So the power to stop him is certainly there. Maybe he moved through divisions because he was 5ft 11. Tszyu was 5ft 7 and bulked up to the max. Too bad he skipped the division. Maybe he wasn't that confident that he could beat him? Why? Tszyu had great skills and was the best boxer in his division for a decade. Tszyu was The Ring TOP10 rated in his division in his 1st year as a pro. That's unheard of. Tszyu was in the Ring TOP10 P4P for most of his career.
Ridiculous post. Just ridiculous. atsch And just what is Tszyu's best win exactly ? Zab Judah ? Wake up to yourself. Tszyu was not in the class of any of those great fighter's you mention. Why did Tszyu not seek out megafights with Oscar and Mosely when they were at 147 along with Trinidad ? It was only 7 pounds and Tszyu had spent his whole career at 140 ? Can you please list for me Tszyu's great performances of his career which makes you think he would demolish the all time greats you have listed ? Are you talking about the same Tszyu who was battered in his prime by the average Vince Phillips. Your've certainly had a clanger here Flamego.
I think Tszyu is really difficult to judge historically because his career differed from the contemporary idea of ATG (not jumping weight classes). His resume is criticised but you cannot say he ran from or failed to come to terms with any real challenger at 140. For whatever reason, his weight class was 'skipped' by a couple of other legends when he was still there in his prime. In the end I'm a fan and would like to think that on his day he is at least even money against all the names mentioned.
Oscar fought everybody during his career, to suggest he avoided KT is laughable.......... especially considering the Vince Phillips loss. Not saying ODLH beats KT i'm just saying he didn't avoid him. KT staying at the one weight division doesn't enhance his legacy.
Exactly especially when there was no greats who campaigned there during Tszyu's long reign. Tszyu's resume does not look all that flash compared to Whittaker/Chavez/De La Hoya/Trinidad who Flamengo reckons wouldn't trouble Tszyu too much. I'm still in shock by those dumb comments.
I don't think we are disagreeing. As I said for whatever reason, I don't recall the greats we're referring to fighting even once at 140
Clanger?? You Knob jockey! De La Hoya moved from the jW/W division to match Pernell Whitaker in a $$$$ fight. Pernell had already been dominating the W/W div for some time. Tszyu had been in negotiation with Oscar (Mordey was still the man) for a fight. DLH chases bucks and ducked a Tszyu match up. Stop thinking inside the limited square you ****ing **** head!! Tszyu never left 140lbs for a $$ cash inn. "A floored career"; meaning just THAT!!. With Managerial change (allowing a pea brained ****, on par with Khoder Nasser in charge), Tszyu's career was turmoiled for years. As a fighter against southpaws, there's never been a better jW/W (or ring generalship).. Sweet Pea had terminated his own L/W and limited JW/W career long before... 'Roid growth ****ing him totally. You want some fortitude?? Leon mentioned Huratdo.. Great call... and Great fight. Hardened KD's from both parties. Jan Burgmann.. Never seen an uglier KO. Judah... Work it out yourself mate. Incredible speed and agility.. but the poor bloke had never tasted a true POWER right hand. Sharmba Mitchell... Great boxer.. nye nye. Injuries were the 'arse' of Kostya's 'crack' at longevity. The last few years of KT's career were only speckled with occassional fights. All the while he took on the best availed to himself without over cautious consideration.
As for ATG's being ATG's due to jumping weight clalsses?? WRONG. Every man they face nowdays has started at the same weight class..... the biggest exception being Pac. You guys ever consider the fact HGH is/was so prevelant in the 80's and 90's that moving divisions was barely avoidable??? It continues worse than ever. Fighters today tend to move through the weight divs with extreme frequency. Looking back through history, most fighters moved up in weight to accomodate conditioning available with age. Usually a period of 5-7 years at any given weight. SRR attemted to beat Joey Maxim when barely a jM/W..
As i said earlier your having a clanger here Flamengo. A real clanger. :yep Yeah beating Sharmba Mitchell and Zab Judah and Jan Bergman prove Tszyu would have ****ed up Chavez/Whittaker/De La Hoya and Trinidad.
