Shannon Briggs: “I’ll fight Golota, Klitschko, Peter or anybody"

They have a call in radio show on the site that is confidential about its boxing, and Briggs calls in, twice. He goes on to slam both K brothers, and Peter, as well......

He may have enough of a name to get one more big fight, but you never know. He does seem to have really lost alot of clout with the Liak fight, (where he was out of gas, VERY early and being outboxed til landing in the 12th) and the Ibragimov loss.

But I think at this point, Golota/Briggs would be a very logical fight for each man. Golota needs to step up before a titleshot, and Briggs needs to step down a bit after the Ibrag loss. Great matchup. I hope King is reading this, and puts Golota Briggs together.

 

Briggs is a pretty cool guy, I messaged him a couple times on myspace, he always writes back with funny comments, about a year ago when there was talks of him fighting Wlad, I asked him how you see this fight going, he told me " Wlad will be on his back and counted out, I will be holding the belt, while he's crying and holding his ***** brother in his arms", the guy has a personality that's for sure.

Briggs has top notch power, about 60% of his wins come from a first round knockout, the guy can knock you out with one punch, just ask Liakhovich, who went life and death with a powerful Brewster and won, but was layed out by a couple good shots from Briggs. I dont know if any of you caught this or not, but during a press confrence before the Liakhovich fight, Briggs went to go after him, and called him a ***** ass ******, very funny stuff.

 

Here is the problem with Shannon, though he talks a good game he rarely backs it up. Again all he can point to is the knockout he pulled out of his ass against Liakhovich, in a fight in which he was losing.

Shannon sounds like a man that wants a payday. He calls out everyone in there brother but will end up fighting Chris Koval, Ron Bellamey, or the latest heavyweight stiff, while he waits to cash in on a title fight.

If Shannon wanted to impress me he would take a non-title fight against a legitimate opponent like a Golota, Rahman, or even Barrett. But he won't because he has had a few chances to fight all of those guys and hasn't.

 

Briggs is to boxing what Sid Vicious is to wrestling: I love his interviews and I hate his fights. It's not so much that he's arrogant or delusional, just a brilliant self-promoter. He knows that being over the top is the only way for an overmuscled statue from ancient Rome to make it in the sport today.

Briggs should get a shot at Golota before the otherwise inevitable Golota title shot. We all know that Golota would be mown down like Shannon fodder.

 

Briggs has a chance against all those guys,
if they agree on a 1x1 ring and 10 second rounds.

 

Yes, Briggs does seem to love to talk about what he is going to do to all of the big names, but can't seem to really do it when he gets the chance. So after all this time, his grand claims seem to have lost their credibility, and most of their entertainment value.

Briggs does make himself accesible, though, as Punisher said. I know he even posts on this forum from time to time, as well.

I love power, though, and I think he probably deserves a shot at a decent name, certainly. But I do think he needs a tuneup, first, to show he has got at least an inkling of stamina, as he seems to have next to none in his last few fights.

I'd like to see Briggs fight a Golota/Whitaker/McCline level opponent, first. If he's successful, then see what else is out there are the upper levels. But as it is, he certainly don't deserve a shot at Wlad or Peter, right off the bat. That's crazy.

That would make sense, yes. We can then see if the Briggs claim that he was sick and that the promoters forced him to fight, anyway, was true.



Briggs posts on this forum every once in a great while. Maybe he'll chime in, if we keep this thread at the top long enough.

 

There first fight was boring, why would we want to see that again?

Briggs needs to fight a guy that's willing to try and go toe to toe with him, Tua or Golota would be interesting choices. If we really want to see him gauge his power, maybe Mccall would make for an interesting matchup.

 

We dont, but it seemed to be him. I remember a while back a couple posters were giving him a hard time, and he got mad accused so of them being racist, I havent seen him on here since.
