I don't really like seeing Golota in there against anybody at this stage. A win over Golota doesn't really impress me. I want to see Briggs in there against a guy who is actually successful. I would watch a fight against Tua, but it doesn't really get me excited, as who knows where Tua is at with his abilities at this stage either. I want to see the guys start proving themselves. Everyone wants an immediate shot at a title without earning it against someone who is actually successful at the moment. Fighting guys who haven't been successful in the last 5 years really doesn't prove much to me.

Agreed, the guys I named are just fan friendly names, who's prime and ages are similar. I just think Golota and Briggs are at the place in there respective careers, they both are top 20 on most people's list, and our one or two matches away from a title shot it seems, dont you see Briggs/Golota being a interesting match?

On the biggest Russian boxing site (fightnews.ru) they were reporting this week that George Foreman was coming back to fight Shannon Briggs during the summer. :-(

Briggs was and still is a good little fighter, but he was never among the elite Heavyweights. Hopefully he decides to hang 'em up soon, but I doubt that'll happen.

A win over a 40 year old Golota is still impressive IMO, and Tua is no more successful than Golota. Golota is still a big name.

I see one of two things happening.... either Briggs blows Golota out early, which seems to be what happens when Golota fights a big puncher who is aggressive early. And the fans will act like he just conquered the world and deserves a title shot... which he will get over a more deserving contender.... and just hold up the unification that we are all looking for.

    or...

Briggs will come out throwing 10 punches a round, and Golota will outbox him down the stretch... and Don King will act like he deserves his 20th title shot, and he will once again leap frog over people who actually deserve a shot at the title.

Of course I would watch it, I just wouldn't enjoy the aftermath of it.

Your concern seems realistic, Don King can pull strings and make anything happen if he wants, who else can get a journyman like Austin a shot at the title against Wlad or even Brewster, who was out of the Heavyweight picture all together and had'nt fought for 16 months, a WBO title shot against Wlad in April of 04.

I see it the exact same way as you, Briggs can bang, I never seen a fighter with so many first round knockouts, I think I did the math awhile back, and 60% of his wins come by first round knockout, I understand most of them came against C and D class guys, but he severely rocked a prime Lewis with one punch in the first round, and his match against Liakhovich proved how truly powerful he is, he did what Brewster couldnt do, with 1/10 of the effort. The guy is still very dangerous early on for any Heavyweight, but just like Mccline, the deeper the fight goes, the worse he gets.

I would like to see Briggs get down to the lean, and ripped, but still somewhat slim-ish, muscular physique he used to have back when he fought Foreman.

I think he probably likes how he looks when he's pumped up as he is now, but it certainly is too much of a good thing, when it comes to boxing.

If he does fight again, I am interested in seeing how big he is for the fight.

    You tell 'em, JC.:good

Our Wielki Chłopiec needs a fight with someone in the worst way!

In everyone's mind Golota = Big Risk & Little Reward. Thats why no one is stepping up to the plate.

Damn, Briggs looks like a body builder, while Liakhovich looks like a flabby 13 yearold boy without his shirt on at the wave pool. On Briggs' Myspace page/blog, he answers a few questions about himself. I remember one of the questions that were asked, why do you have to be that big, doesn't hurt your speed and stamina? He said, his asthma is his biggest problem in the ring, but he likes to stay big and muscular because it helps him get more acting roles, I think he was in the Transporter 2 and a couple other movies I dont think I ever heard of before.
