Against Maurenzo Smith, who had a record of 12-9-3 and is ranked #184 on Boxrec.

He weighed in at 256 pounds:

Is he ready for a return as contender?

Edit: 20 April : Shannon Briggs KO1 Francisco Mireles

    Good comeback win for Briggs.

Smith had recently got a draw with Vinny Maddalone so wasn't a complete tomato can type journeyman.

Briggs just needs to pick up another couple of wins like this and then he should target fighting Manuel Charr in Europe later in the year as that fight would definately sell in Germany plus it would be a fight Briggs could win and put himself in line for a WBC mandatory position.

I would like to see Briggs fight the eventual winner out of Stiverne/Arreola vs Wilder as he would have a chance against any of those three Heavyweights.

    Put him in against Windmiller.

31 KO's vs 31 KO1's... bet it would sell in the US.

This is a troll thread right? Or am I just taking crazy pills???

Shannon Briggs hasnt had a notable win in nearly a decade!

The last time he fought a world level fighter he almost got killed!

Hes most known for giving Lewis a few tough rounds in 1998!!!

He fought a rd, looked good against a decent journeyman....now he's gotta line up 3 fights in 2 months, get himself back into the top 50, and start fighting fringe contenders and prove he wants a title shot.

If he continues the path that got him a shot vs Vitali.....f that......let him rot in the club scene.:think

Judging by that video alone yes sure what more could have been asked from him but he'll need to fight someone better before anyone is actually going to be calling for him to fight anyone.

Yeah, if hes gonna fight journeymen, he needs to fight a bunch of em and quick.

Fear factor alone is enough to get some of these guys outta there.....let him take 2-3 more of these fight, then have him hook up with Duva and she can feed Monsour to him.:good

That win will get him back in the top 20.:think
