Briggs posting on the ESB front page:

"It's too early for hostility people. I weighed 263 for the fight and for my next fight May 20th in NYC i'll be lighter and even faster. It was a nice crowd. The people enjoyed themselves and I look forward to fighting again and staying busy. My goal is to fight once a month and after 4 or 5 fights go for a title shot. No rush here. I'm just having fun." =)

"A lot of disgruntle boys and girls on this site. What's all the hate about? Like I said I'm having fun, losing weight and doing what I love to do. Out of the ring I have started a promotional company called The Empire, and currently filming a movie. I'll be doing a sitcom next year as well so stay tuned. As for fighting I'll stay busy and fight once a month and step up gradually with tougher opposition. There is no rush and nothing to prove. The Empire will soon become a powerhouse in sports and entertainment. Check out the site and www.theempireboxing.com We have some huge things in the making that will shake up the boxing world. For those who support me and what I do, I thank you. For the haters I thank you less but as well. I'm having fun baby! This **** just begun. LMAO."

One poster from the ESB front page was at the fight and said Shannon looked great and was in shape sporting almost a 6 pack!

Shannon 'the cannon' is back... looks in shape, that's already something for a heavyweight nowadays.

now let's hope his drug tests return negative this time... can't imagine why he 'used' last time out, against some gloryfied punchbag.

Shannon can still bang and counter punch with the best of them. He just needs to slowly step up in competition and he should be fine.

I can't help but to like Briggs, he has personality. 263 is still about 12-15 pounds above where he should be but its a step in the right direction. He'll never be a major threat in the division at this point in his career but he might land a title shot or atleast another big fight or two. 28 first round ko's is a lot of them.

Kinda strange seeing Briggs the way he is....

I mean... when you look at most American Heavyweights... they all have problems with their weight cause they are fat. Chambers, Arreola, Toney etc...

But not Briggs....He has problems with his weight cause hes too muscled. The guy looks like a bodybuilder. He clearly lifts too much weights, i mean way too much. He needs to hit a treadmill and get back down to about 255.

But hes progressing tho...he came in at 263 last night compared to 272 vs. McGee....almost 10 pounds right there so thats a good start.

Just saw his fight with Pedro. Impressed the shite out of me. That was not the Shannon Briggs I was accustomed to seeing. He was in awesome shape, fast, showed good foot work, and showed tremendous KO power. If he loses more weight, this guy will be on top easily again in the heavyweight division. Go Shannon!

Well at the very least, he was the last American HW to hold the title. Maybe the first one to bring them back home????:D

Glad he's doing well - i've heard he looked great in his last outing but have yet to see for myself.

He's still massively "overweight" though - at 6'4 he should be under 240lbs, he obviously spends a ridiculous amount of time lifting, which he just should do at all - he's ****ing huge, strong and punches hard anyway, he should focus on boxing, stamina and technique.
