You think Shannon Briggs merits a heavyweight title shot? An old asthmatic who has been fighting postmen and sanitation workers in front of 200 people for the past 3 years?? You have no standards. Congrats.

And the Ruiz fight was a real barn burner, huh? Or Audley Harrison, which may very well happen...that is unless Haye decides to take another vacation and wait another 8 months to defend his title against mandatory Chagaev. I don't like this at all. To be honest, I wish both fighters would just reliquish their belts so Wlad could fight for them. Because the fact is that Wlad is the only one of the 3 title holders that is willing to fight all comers. He is desperately trying to make big fights and both Haye and his own brother are getting in his way. Both of them need to either step up or step aside.

The only thing worst that Vitali taking on two bums in a row is Haye taking on no one. In all honestly, the only guy in the division that even warrants consideration right now is Wlad Klitschko. He's active and he's taking on another number one ranked contender in his nex right. Vitali is hanging on taking easy fights and Haye is just a disgrace. Three and a half months and not a peep about his next defense? Please. Anyone with a cerebral cortex knows exactly what Haye has planned. He's going to wait for his manadatory against Chagaeve, which will make it another 9 months between defenses. There hasn't been a less active heavyweight champions since Joe Louis joined the army in WW2.

I dunno why your post is all about David Haye. The subject under discussion is Vitali vs Briggs. There are more fighters in the division than Haye, and there are better candidates for this fight than Briggs. Irrespective of Haye and everything else, Shannon Briggs is a shocking choice of opponent, considering what he's been doing this last few years. Shocking.

My post includes David Haye because he seems to get a free pass from his fans, namely you. He's had 3 1/2 months to schedule a fight and nothing. So, what is worse: fighting against an unworthy opponent or not fighting at all? Personally, I think thy are both disgracing the division. As I said, Wlad is the only one of the three that is acting like a champion. Also, my post isn't just about David Haye. Obviously, that's the only thing you took note of. But I mentioned all three of the title holders.

In a way Vitali is doing what Haye said he was going to do ... clean out the division. He's fighting fairly often, and hopefully if he dispatched Briggs this will be the last we hear from him. The WBA belt is just a huge endless saga ... I see Haye fighting Audley, losing but having a rematch clause, winning the second fight then pulling out of a Chagaev fight at the last minute like Valuev did. Maybe it'll go on like this endlessly until Don King dies.

:huh How does David Haye get a free pass from me?! Because I didn't mention his name in my first post on a thread that's about Vitali Klitschko and Shannon Briggs?? You don't know me, you don't know my opinions on David Haye or anything else except my thoughts on Vitali vs Briggs, so why would you make a statement like that???

And I refuse to say that fighting Briggs is better than fighting no-one... because there is no need to make a comparison. If something bad happens in life, I don't disregard the badness purely because someone else in the world might have something worse on their plate. When I'm discussing Vitali Klitschko and Shannon Briggs, my thoughts are about... Vitali Klitschko and Shannon Briggs. No-one else.

And it's a **** fight and a **** choice of opponent, regardless of ANYTHING else that is happening in the boxing world.

Got to give it to Briggs, I thought he was insane and delusional when he was talking about fighting for titles again. The guy knows how to talk and push himself.

yeah but he's still barely selling himself. he's just active and a vaguely familiar name....which basically makes you an ATG heavy in this day and age (jk, I don't think this era is THAT bad but briggs is such ****)

"Come on "boxers" are different than other athletes." "The heavyweight division is talented." "This is an era like any other." The competition and/or competitive level clearly isn't suffering due to the huge multi-generational success of the major 3 sports through the university/collegiate system as a mega-business, educational subsidy, effective professional minor league, and source of material funding to the US educational system in its entirety.

    :yep:yep

"It is obviously and merely due to the presence of Eastern European athletes that US heavyweights aren't doing well." It isn't that these guys are all bums, guys who couldn't compete their way to success in the major sports, and are "C" level athletes.

Nah, it's none of these things ...

Hmm .. the quality could speak for itself one might assume ... except in the land of the blind ...

Yeah, the US must not have many extraordinary large sized athletes compared to the past. Even if the growth in the other sports hadn't been explosive while the numbers pursuing boxing declined over the many generations this talent pool (professional heavyweights) would have been the result.

    :rofl:rofl

"Well, we've got football (soccer) and there has always been the NFL, NBA, & MLB in the past too."

Idiots ... you'll know who you are ..:deal
