Lewis vs Briggs for the Lineal title was a great fight. Short and exciting with both guys being hit hard. I always loved Shannon.

 

Yes that piece of action at 3:30 should be on every Lewis highlight vid. Classic indeed.:good

I like Briggs a lot but he is just another American HW (with all due respect) who was on the bandwagon that downplayed Lennox as a fighter. The only 2 who were'nt guilty of this were Mercer and Grant.

It's just a simple fact of national pride that the American's tried to pour **** on anything Lewis done because he was/did broke their monopoly on the division. The US media have a lot to answer for in this regard, to this day most American's can only give Lennox his dues in a backhanded way.

On the Byrd subject, i agree he was deserving of a shot but Lennox was well within his rights not to fight him. It would have done him and the division no good as spectacle. Lewis and Manny Steward told Byrd this to his face. Anyway Vitali was equally as deserving at that point when Lewis gave him his shot 6 months early.

 

-Lewis probably deserves more credit for beating Grant, with Evander out of the picture, he was the Ring #1 contender and of that whole late 90s class of up starts, he was the most consistent and best regarded going into the fight. That said, McCline deserves more credit for what he did to Grant too but that is another story.

-As an American boxing fan at the time. Lewis most certainly was not treated well by the media. It was very simliar to the way Wlad is being treated right now. Not sure how much of it was nationalist pride or we just couldnt' get over Tyson..hell, we even treated Evander with disdain until he finally fought and beat Tyson.

-Well at least you will admit Byrd deserved the shot. That is a start.

My goodness. Just goes to show that ANYONE can nitpick any fighter's resume. and @ anyone saying Holyfield was a shell, just came off destroying Moorer and waxing Bean.

Holyfield was the favourite in their first fight. And Byrd? C'mon now. Lewis missed ONE guy in Byrd. But that doesn't make or break a legacy, since Byrd really didn't accomplish much in the end.

Complaining about Byrd never getting a shot is like complaining about Berto never getting a shot.

 

Byrd accomplished more than most. More than Vitali, more than Tua, more than Grant, and would have been one of Lewis' best wins behind Holyfield in retrospect.

Obviously it didn't break Lewis' legacy, one fighter never does, but it is certainly worthy of criticism and hyopcrticial if you feel so strongly about Bowe and Tyson avoiding Lewis.

Nobody trashed their title to avoid Berto. He took himself out of the scene.

Lewis's resume **** on the resume of fighters he didn't fight. David Tua would have steamrolled 90% of the guys on that list. I will go through that list though.

Just the fact you listed Riddick Bowe makes you a secret hater and a very bad troll. Everyone knew Bowe ducked Lewis by throwing his belt into the garbage and Bowe went on to hide under Rock Newman's panties for an entire decade.
Riddick Bowe was ass raped twice by Andrew Golota. Golota made Bowe **** Blood and totally made Bowe his little 2 dollar ***** for two whole nights. Bowe was brutally humiliated and destroyed by Golota.

Lennox Lewis had year round Testing, Evander was injecting super Horse Steroids into his body to give him superhuman strength and speed. Lewis dominated the Ped User anyways.

Moorer was a ****** that got KOED by Foreman. Moorer had a disgraceful glass jaw, glass heart, glass body, and a glass dick. Lewis would have broken all 4. Moorer did not once call out Lewis and Lewis didn't know of this ******'s existence.

George Foreman
Lewis would have punched holes into Fat George's BODY. Lewis would have dominated PRIME GEORGE, much less this corpse of George. Fat George himself said 'Lennox is the best HW of all times' 'I would not wanna fight him even during my 70's days'
