I've never really seen why people think that the fighters say so and so hit harder to make themselves look better. Wouldn't they say the person who KO'd them hit harder so it would be more understandable? There are different types of punchers, and people react differently to the different types. From personal experience the more cracking type power bothers me more than the thudding punches. Sometimes you're hit with a punch that might look like it was huge and push you back a step even if you blocked it, but it might not have snap, or might not hurt as much as a good, stiff jab to the face. Foreman IMO had more force and thud behind his punches, but he didn't have the precision or timing to land in the right spots like Lewis could.

Usually because they've never been hit by the ranked heavyweights in question, so they have nothing substantial to add to the discussion.

Making a smartass comment and accusing the guy of "dishonesty" or "talking crap" is easy, and it's all most guys on a boxing forum can do.

They themselves are often the one with an "agenda", and assume that every comment a boxer ever makes about his former opponents has to be aimed at "inflating" or "degrading" a favourite or not-so-favourite fighter.

Shannon Briggs' opinion doesn't count as a legitimate opinion until he's been posting 20 posts a day (good ones) for about 3-6 months here on ESB Classic. Only then will we take him at his word.
