Haye was not supposed to of been offerd an even split. I remember hearing that it was more like 80-20 with Haye having to have 2-3 fights under k2 (if that is true). I can't see any problem with this though since guys in the Army they get a small fraction of 500 000 for a job which is a lot harder imo. After tax and expenses Briggs should have about 40-50 percent of that pay check which is a hell of a lot for 2-3 months work. If you just look at the UFC fighters only get 40 000 for a title challenge.

they are fighting fighters who would be fighting in front of 100 people for peanuts. they are not fighting anyone who commands a decent paycheck.

Briggs didnt deserve a title a shot. Briggs was a lucky mofo just to get a chance a title shot.

Now Briggs can get back to his true professions stand up comedy, and body building.

Klitschko, i imagine, would be around on $3,500,000 for this fight.

Remember this fight wasn't PPV in here or in Germany. There's no way he is commanding $5,000,000 + for a fight against a guy like Briggs in a non-PPV fight that wasn't even televised in the UK or the USA.

The Klitschkos are popular in Germany and the Ukraine. The UK and USA don't want to televise the majority of their fights because RTL fees are too high and the broadcasters can't recoup that money because the fights - most of them - are boring snooze fests that no sane person wants to pay for.

I remember Ibragimov made $5 million from fighting Wlad. So much for the Klits being cheap. If the opponent brings something to the table they get offered good cash.

How much did Vitali make against Lewis compared to Lewis' paycheck, when Vitali didn't bring anything to the table? Maybe we should look at that?

Whether it was $500,000 or $1 million that Briggs made it was a good pay day for him considering he isn't even a top 20 heavyweight. Briggs is at the end of a long career and wasn't going to make any decent paydays other than this fight. It's not like he was a serious contender or a linear title holder like when he fought Lewis for $1.5 million.

Fact is Klitschko's do not offer a great deal to their opponents but thats because they bring nothing to the table. Other than Haye and maybe Adamek name another heavyweight that actually has a solid fan base who can generate interest or has built up anything resembling a decent resume to make fans believe that they have a hope in hell.

Good opposition will get a fair payday, over protected prospects whit no fans and over the hill former title holders like Briggs with no other options shouldn't expect anything other than what they get.

What people have to remember here is that Vitali is the draw in this fight. Without him Briggs would not make 500k. If you look at a music concert there is always a support act who makes a small percentage of the headliner, I know this is boxing but it's the same princible really. It sounds to like Briggs didn't even really come to win anyway.

Wlad-Ibragmov was the first unification fight for many years and that itself carried a lot of hype and weight. I remember Klitschko going on Conan o'Brian show and getting a lot attention.

It was an attractive fight on paper but since then Wladimir's popularity in the USA plummeted.

Because Sanders fighting Klitschko was meaningfull, because Dokes fighting Bowe was meaningfull!! They were deserving contenders!!

For an undeserving contender Briggs is being paid quite well, so I wouldn't complain if I were you...

Povetkin, SNV were offered 2 million because they > Briggs!!

Think before you sprout such nonsense will you!!
