    Fellas,

I like Shannon Briggs' character and persona in and outta the ring as much as the next guy does, however, I am not sold or fooled about Briggs' motivation here to face either Wladimir or Vitali Klitschko in a title fight......

In my book, Briggs still has a punchers chance against any heavyweight active today but, Briggs' power is only there for about 3 to 4 rds at best........ After 4 to 5 hard rounds fought, Briggs generally gases out and looks to coast.....

Fact is, Shannon Briggs only wants a title fight with the K-brothers to ensure his retirement plans..... Briggs ain't exactly filthy rich who sleeps on a mound of money........ Briggs has security, but he can blow his cash within a few years if he flakes off hard and goes partying........ Briggs realizes this too........

YES! Briggs is still south of age 40, and only wants a fight with the K-brothers so he can add that extra $$$ cushion to his retirement plan....... I understand that all, but, I ain't fooled one bit..........

Of course he wants the pay-day. But Briggs is a dangerous cat for the first few rounds. Vs Wlad he would have chance of knocking him out for sure, not a great chance but a chance.

Only if Briggs can draw W.K. into a street-fight early on............. In 2010, W.K. and Manny Steward are TOO WELL prepared to allow that to happen........ My guess is, W.K. keeps Briggs at bay and sharp-shoots Briggs to death for a mid-rds TKO win......... W.K survives a few rocky moments before battering Briggs into defeat.......

That would definitely be the most likely outcome of a Wlad-Briggs fight.

That's what I think too. But, I'm not even sure if it's that big of a payday. I don't think there are many paydays for an American in today's heavyweight landscape. I don't even think anyone (aside form the Klitschkos themselves) clears over a $million for a fight anymore. The K. Brothers are holding all the cards, and they are in a position to keep all the cash. Fighting them does not automatically mean big bucks (except for themselves). It's not like you can retire off of the purse from one fight against a Klitschko. I bet Briggs made a lot more for himself fighting back in the 90's against guys like George, Lennox, Mt. Goofi and Botha. Now, scoring the upset and winning probably means a big payday for the rematch.

I heard that Briggs only grossed 1.3 million for his title loss effort to Sully Iggy back in 2007........ After being taxed hard, that ain't gonna be **** leftover.........

I'm not sure what Briggs grossed for his KO over Sergei Liakhovich back in 2006 on regular Showtime TV............. I'll guess $300,000 G's tops..........

As for Briggs' recent comeback fights, well, Briggs is merely getting "Pizza Hut" money there........

Haye made about £5m ($7m) for his fight vs Valuev, and about £3m for his fight vs Ruiz

I have no problem with folks needing to earn money to live, but I hate it when a no-hoper or longshot tries to bull**** the public into paying him insane or over-inflated checks when indeed the sum ***** really has very little chance of pulling through on his jive talk.................. Briggs fits that mold perfectly.............

Briggs knows that with his name, etc... he can at least earn a solid 1 million dollar night with Wlad Klit.......... That right there beats the hell outta flippin' whoppers for Burger King at night........... Again, Briggs knows that too............

Of course Briggs only has a puncher's chance and is only after money. That's plain as day. The guy shouldn't get the fight, and it wouldn't be competitive.

Briggs MIGHT get his shot at W.K. only cuz the division is very shallow and who else is there of note in 2010................

    We've got:

    Povetkin
    Briggs
    Haye (WBA)
    Peter
    Valuev
    Toney

That ain't a whole lot to choose from........... Everyone else screaming for a shot are NOT worth a **** as of yet.......... Plus, nobody else can sell a ticket..........
