Briggs has to deserve his shot..

Its time he has to realise that he has to stand in line to get title fights...

Sammy had to wait forever , now he is on top he is the man calling the shots.. Briggs should have pushed harder against Sultan if he wanted respect so much..

    This is probbly true.

Briggs does not have a belt to unify. He know longer brings a Marquee name to make money off of. He is not and will never again be a top contender, so a victory over him will not add an credibility.

Peter would be a fool to fight him.

No offense to your guy, but he is not going to get yet another shot based on his mouht. If he wants one, he should go out and work his way back in.

Since when has that happened? There is talk of Golata getting a shot after that fight with mollo. Liakovich got an eliminator more than a year after getting ko'ed. Why is Briggs not deserving coming off of a loss that was a title fight.

Briggs should not talk about having fights postponed for illness. He did it vs. Ibragimov. Also, Briggs is coming off a loss, he shouldn't get another shot at a title when he didn't deserve the first one. Shannon Briggs isn't rated in the top 15 by the WBC. So they probably would not approve a title bout with Peter anyway. CHagaev, though he postponed a bout for the second time due to illness, has fought his next foe already and will reschedule. Valuev has only recently defeated Liakhovich in the eliminator and can afford to wait. He also defended his title less than 4 months ago. Chagaev also earned his title shot by beating decent fighters unlike Briggs. Here endeth the lesson.

Golota beat McBride and Mollo. (both far better than anyone Briggs beat in the 10 fights leading up to his shot.) I don't think Golota should get a shot, but an eliminator wouldn't be all that bad. Liakhovich only got an eliminator. not a title shot. Why shouldn't Briggs at the very least have to fight an eliminator? speaking of guys who lost and haven't fought in a year...Shannon Briggs comes to mind.

What is this about Sammy going to Briggs gym and insult him? That's what Yoel is saying so they can get a fight and make some money... Briggs is the one to have to insult someone and create some havoc to get his name back in the picture... Sammy has many options, Vitali, Virchis, Gomez, unifications with the WBA, IBF-WBO-IBO, he doesn't need Shannon, Shannon needs Sammy!

Why would Peter waste his time on Briggs?

I'll be honest, but he doesn't deserve a title shot at any of the the current champs right now. If he wants his title shot, get back in line and earn it.

    Agree.

I think with Ibragimov now having just loss, a Briggs Ibragimov rematch would put the winner in a more deserving position.

See if Briggs can avenge the Ibragimov loss, first, then he would possibly be seen as a credible fight for a titleholder.

I dont think anyone wants to see that happen with Ibragimov's style almost any fight will be boring. I have no problem with Briggs in an eliminator first say against Ruiz,Golota,Brewster or something like that.

I think all three of those would be good, yes.

But how can you say an Ibrag rematch would be boring ( it probably would) and then suggest a Ruiz match?

I like Briggs but it's just the same thing over and over. Lotta trash talk then during the fight he throws three punches a round and complains of asthma and then wants another shot. He doesn't deserve one yet, put him in an eliminator and see what Briggs shows up but I bet it's the lazy one with a bookful of excuses.

id have to say briggs would handle golota pretty quickly. he'd have a chance with peter if he through some punches but peter might be able to find that chin. i dont know about peter's chin though after mcline dropped him
