ESB fan boys and trolls, you guys never listen......
sometimes you have to look at facts...and heres one that most cant conceive.... but its a stone cold FACT

SHannon Briggs has 2 wins over a top 10 guy his entire 57 fights.

    http://boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=4629&cat=boxer

    TWO :-(

1 against 48 year old george foreman
1 behind on all cards against Sergei Lycoavich

this aint a bash shannon thread..this is a bash boxing thread....the guy shouldnt have been allowed in there.....boxrec had the most accurate rating of #77 in the world, Vitali is #2
and it reflected every second of every minute of every round.

here is is last 5 years, and you wonder why the ref didnt stop the fight instead of why was this fight even

Maybe boxing should eliminate rankings since they really dont apply anymore....

  2. I agree, out of the 3 challengers for HW titles he was by far the least deserving.

yeah all they see is KO1 , KO1, KO1, KO1 on his record
but never look at who they were against, or that the KO1 came against a guy that has been KO'd 10 times already...they just figure " well, vitali has no chin, so hes in trouble when shannon connects"

Briggs deserves credit for his toughness, but that really was the most one-sided Vitali fight i've ever seen, and that's saying something - 12 rounds of absolutely nothing coming back at him, whatsoever. The fact the fight was sanctioned, as you say, was a disgrace.

Theres no one that I can think of that I would like to see in there with Vitili except for his brother. I cant see blaming the rankings we all know that they will give the fighter who can demand the highest purse a number one ranking. Its a shame that the division is sad enough that I fight like this can even happen:verysad

Too late now. I feel the same way about the Chisora fight. Inexperienced fighter that would probably take a similar beating. They didn't approve the Toney fight but this...:patsch

He still got a shot. If anyone doesn't deserve title shots it's Holyfield and still he won against Valuev but was robbed. Boxing is his life, if he wants to fight then so be it, Vitali was just too good and Briggs, whether you want to accept it or not, is past it. Still Briggs showed serious heart by staying there all the way to the end, anyone else would have quit from round 5.

the thread starter is right. At the very least, Briggs should've been forced to fight at least some credible guy before facing Vitali.

I think there is a WBC rule that even mandatory defenses have to be against a top15 opponent. The sad part about today's HW scene is that even though Briggs has fought nothing but bums as of late, it's probably enough to qualify him as a top15 hw.

The Klits are very good fighters, it's time people accepted that, doing so will be so much easier than fighting it.

Not as much as a disgrace then the fighter in your avatar getting a title shot in which he hasn't done **** to get it. I bet Briggs right now would ko Harrison.

Briggs, has tons of heart and a good chin and is exciting to watch. Briggs, in his prime would have been more competitive and may could have been a threat to win a fight against any of the Klits. Briggs was a contender and Linear world champion when the Klits were just starting their career. Briggs, should get his respect for hanging in there.
