Instead of fighting an almost 50 year old Foreman, he meets the Foreman who disposed of Gerry Cooney. How does Briggs do?

Foreman breaks him into pieces just like how he knocked out Moorer

Foreman breaks him down and gets a late round stoppage.

I think he could still have beaten Lyle

Foreman didn't break Moorer into pieces. He landed the perfect punch, and predicted roughly when, and how it would happen. 'At some point later in the fight Michael will allow me to knock him out' was the quote I remember but he was being beaten until that point. An incredible achievement nonetheless

Foreman could barely use his right hand against Briggs. I imagine the 1990 version would win.

But Briggs was also green and it was first time going 12. He was better for Lewis, Botha, Mercer, and Liakovich.

I sometimes feel if we could bring back all these HW legends for hypothetical matchups Moorer would surprise the most people with the stuff he'd be able to do. A majority of this site do not believe he could beat Bivol.

Foreman was 41 when he destroyed Gerry Cooney. I'd take that George to knock out Briggs in 4 rounds.

The 38 year old Foreman of 1988 who was very active also stops Briggs by that stage George had had over a dozen fights including a quality win over a spirited and tough Dwight Mohammad Qawi

At 38 years old George Foreman was just beginning his comeback in 1987 after a decade of retirement. While he was certainly MUCH younger than he was when he actually met Briggs, there was no doubt a lot of rust. That and he was still adjusting to some subtle changes in his style. I suppose being 38 instead of 48 might have given him a better result but only if he came truly prepared.

Hard to say with Liakhovich. Old Briggs was sort of like Old Foreman; larger and slower to the point that he was almost a different fighter.

He still had quick hands, but his feet were slow. Considering that he gassed out against Wilson and then got thrown into a twelve rounder with Foreman, I’ll assume the version who beat Liakovich was better. He might’ve even been able to back Foreman up.

He was a huge, stationary guy with lots of power, quick hands, and no stamina. He must have been a very strange opponent to fight.

The younger one was fairly mobile despite the bad stamina.
