I would have to take Briggs he almost had Lewis early in his career, fought foreman with basically one hand and decent showings even in losses .He had decent skills ,fast and could punch, also had a better chin and was a good 230/250,very competent boxer when focused while shavers has losses to just about everyone who was worth mentioning that wouldn't beat Briggs,He k.od a weak chinned Norton.

You do realize 190 Quarry smashed the boogie man Shavers right? He couldn't even beat Tex cobb the punching bag of the 70's.

Shavers is the most overatted boxer of the 70's,he never beat anyone of Briggs size his record doesn't lie,its full of many guys who lost prior to fighting him, theres no way around that you fool.I'll take the guy who almost puts Lewis on his seat over a career of failed fights...shavers would be a good sparring partner ,but that's about it.:yep

He couldn't even beat Bob Stallings who had over "TWENTY" losses before he met shavers with a 19 % k.o percentage,he was k.od and you want to talk who lost to nobodies? :hammertime

Briggs easy. Shavers, apart from being supremely conceited, is supremely overrated. He rarely knocked out hw's above 220 pounds. He fought a ton of top contenders, but only rarely beat them (maybe 1 of 4). And his chin was vulnerable. Briggs is too big and too powerful. Easy ko within 6 for Briggs.

To see EXACT k.o percentages yea...however,no what? One does not need to see that boxing rec doesn't have? Williams GLASS jaw ,and that's the only reason why foreman wanted him, another moorer waiting to happen, however Williams was slowed down and it would have been an easy win for him,you also left out that Briggs broke his hand early in the Foreman fight ,I believe round two, though im not sure I didn't run on wiki?Youve probably never even seen Jeremy Williams fight, ive saw all his big fights live on T.V ! "BRO"!

Yup, this right here. Briggs just wasn't tough enough against the better competition he faced. The 1st round attack on Lewis was really stunning but he threw all his chips in the pot and went for broke. Basically his only chance at winning. Shavers had some skills compared to the 90's power punchers. He'd take Briggs out in 2.

Shavers lost a controversial decision to Ali. Briggs won a controversial decision to a 47 year old Foreman. Who did Briggs beat besides last second miracle against Liakhovic? Shavers did just a little bit more.

Shavers was a poor boxer mainly a brawler with terrible set ups and never defeated anyone worth noting over 210 pounds, lets alone even a journyman 230 plus pounder with actual good boxing skills .Shavers himself would be a low tier journyman in Briggs era so not sure where the status of being a good boxer comes in for Shavers when it never existed.Shavers certainly lost that fight,i don't even know what an old ali proves anyway,he was obviously a shot fighter then. The telling sighn of this fight is not who Briggs lost to but how long will Shavers be standing with a huge Briggs punch that he will land eventually.
