Briggs power was almost exclusively proven against tomato cans. The guy could seriously crack, but he is not Max Baer. The smart money might just be on Carnera giving him a boxing lesson!
Baer ****ed about with Primo he should ,and could have gotten him out of there much sooner imo Not my money .
Which Briggs? Bad stamina young Briggs, who could move a bit; or giant stationary asthmatic counterpuncher Briggs, who would hurt you with a single, extremely powerful punch and then debate whether he could afford to throw a second one at you?
Let's put it this way: If Briggs wins, then there is enough of a gulf between their resumes, for it to be held up as an example of style A over performing against style B!
They're almost two different fighters. I think Carnera wears down stationary asthmatic Briggs. Stationary Briggs doesn't have the stamina to keep Carnera on the floor. Younger Briggs might win.
If it's scheduled for 15, Carnera stops the asthma attack king in 13 or 14. Carnera was the much busier fighter. Briggs could keep up for a round or two here or there, but he gassed way too easily and took many rounds off in fights to try to catch his breath. Carnera would be nailing him the whole time he took his breaks. It probably wouldn't even be close on the cards when Briggs was left in a heap on the floor.
Louis on Carnera: "He had nothing". Louis's position on the RING punchers list: #1 Rounds it took Louis to knock Carnera out: 6 Baer's position on the RING punchers list: #22 Rounds it took Baer to knock Carnera out: 11 Briggs's position on the RING punchers list: N/A Rounds where Briggs was most dangerous: 1-4
