26th Roy Clarke 5-11-2 Clarke was winning handily until he was threatened with a gun.
    27th Sully Montgomery 36-31-1
    29th Frank Zaveta 1-7-0
    30th George Trafton[Footballer]4-0-0
    31st Jack McAuliffe11 15-13-6

    43rd George Cook 31-36-11
    52nd Umberto Torriani 1-11-2
    57thAmando De Carolis 12-17-2

    84th Joe Rice 4-2-0
    86th Young Spence 11-9-1
Anyone still wonder why Carnera is neither in the HOF, or on the 100 best punchers list ?

NB ,In his 30th fight Briggs was fighting Foreman for the world title and, in his 31st fight Lennox Lewis.

One minor nitpick: that's a lot of boxing matches for a man to be labeled a wrestler.

Corbett had fewer fights than Lodge, but Fitzsimmons's record doesn't read: "10-0-3 Jim Corbett [bank teller]."

Well that was his occupation apparently.
Lodge had lost his last 8 fights, 4 by stoppage.
I'll edit it if it is a sticking point.

Nah, it's not a sticking point. Lodge is just one data point among many. Just seemed a bit odd way to put it, that's all.

It should also be pointed out that Briggs had an extensive amateur career, while Carnera largely leaned his trade in the professional ranks.

    All this is irrelevant however.

It is who they beat at the top of their respective games, that we should compare them on.

What a way to cherry pick. I notice you don't mention that Foreman was 48 years old and that Foreman vacated his IBF title and was stripped of his WBA title several years before ever fighting Briggs, so the fight wasn't for a world title. Also, Briggs wasn't even competitive with Lewis or with Vitali.

Primo was easily the superior fighter and accomplished much more than Briggs. Primo beat a real champion in Jack Sharkey for the full world title while Briggs beat Siarhei Liakovich for a paper strap.

    Primo Carnera (88-14)

    Jack Sharkey (36-9-2)
    Young Stribling (226-12-17)
    Tommy Loughran (112-23-8)
    George Godfrey (68-15-1)
    Ernie Schaaf (58-14-2)
    Walter Nausel (43-5-2)
    King Levinsky (39-14-4)
    Victorio Campolo (17-5-1)
    Paulino Uzcudun (42-9-2)
    Sully Montgomery (36-31-1)
    Seal Harris (26-21-7)

    Shannon Briggs (60-6-1)

    George Foreman (76-4)
    Ray Mercer (34-5-1)
    Frans Botha (39-2) - A Draw
    Siarhei Liakovich (23-1)
    Rob Calloway (70-11-2)
    Raphael Zumbano (34-7)
    Demetrice King (7-5)

Look when Carnera fought them FFS!
I think Sharkey went into the tank
Both the Stribling fights were fixed
Loughran was outweighed by over 80lbs!
Godfrey fouled out he had too much pride to lay down
Schaf was a dead man walking who should not have been anywhere near a ring
    Neusel quit
    Campolo was ****
Uzcudun hadnt been ranked for 3 years
Montgomery was a ham and egger
Harris was a sometime sparring partner for Primo

I really don't care how many bums a champion fought early in their career.

What I am looking for is a body of work at world level, and that is primarily what I measure them by.

I don't really care how many bums somebody fought, or when in their career they fought them, as long as they also have a record against the contenders of the era.

    I just don't care!
