Reminds of some "Wrestler vs. Boxer" farce that Trevor Berbick appeared in years ago.... Berbick took a kick or two to the legs and then refused to fight..... The event was ugly as sin...

    See, this is good here..........:good

I gotta learn how to download and paste clips here in the forum....... I'm not that computer literate.........

    Note:

I'm sure Mercer was hit with one of them hooks real good, but his trip to the canvas seems sketchy.......... Plus, Briggs does appear to FOUL Mercer in the process there....

Never knew about this fight ... what a smelly ending ... Briggs is holding and hitting him and Mercer seems to collaspe from being slapped while in a headlock ... weird ending but this is a weird sport.

That wasn't a legit knockout, IMO. Briggs was holding and hitting anyway, which is and was illegal, and he most likely hit him on the back of the head or something like that.
What I don't get is, this guy takes lewis's best, Morrison's best, Holyfield's best, Holmes' best, and then he can't take a few sloppy right hooks from Briggs?
    I don't buy it.

Hmmmmm......... I'm curious if Mercer had gased out by round 7 and was looking for Briggs to foul him, so he could go out on his back and seek a D.Q. victory.?.? That is a very ugly way to win, but at age 45, fighters take what they can get......

Still, I'm glad a foul was not called on Briggs......... Briggs seemed on the level in round 7........ Mercer seemed to clam up and look for an exit..........

    Legit stoppage for mine

Punches landed to the front and side of the head, not the back. Briggs arm is around Mercers back not his head, so it is the same as fighting with one hand free in a clinch. He wasnt holding the head and hitting.

I don't think so, Briggs arm went around him as he turned after Ray missed, it wasn't intentional and didn't contribute to whatever Ray felt,,,also Briggs right hands don't land anywhere on the back of Rays head, neck, or side of his neck, but from the angle we see the two right hands moving they landed on the side of his jaw/face. That two arm punches like those might,,,have had that kind of power is amazing. If,,,,,,

I hear dat..... BUT! In any case, Mercer dropped like he was shot dead by a cannon..... I'm still not sold that Mercer was on the legitimo.... His KO loss looks kinda' scripted..... I hate that, too.......

Mercer has a history of looking for the easy way on and off.

On top of this we're to believe Briggs knocked him out cold when Wladimir couldn't, with hundreds of combined full power shots.

Watch the punch in slow motion and refresh your memories. In absolutely no way was that even a powerful punch.

Like I said earlier it wasn't even a heavy Briggs punch, no.

Add to that, the first one seems to get blocked while the second whiffs entirely.

Only the third one lands and it's suddenly lights out for Mercer.

Off topic..... Does anyone recall when Mercer KO'd this dude named Jeff Pegus (Spell Check) back around 2000 or 2001...... I taped the fight off FSN..... Mercer knocked that dude right outta the ring...... Wicked KO win for Mercer........ Mercer's folks were ringside to witness that.....

I agree with yu dudes, Briggs punches are just arm punches, now they do look harder then Ali's anchor punch but,,,,,,
