In a boxing sense or personality sense? Boxing wise he is light years ahead, as much as I dislike him.

Personality wise I would have to side with Shannon as he is pure awful, a nasty little runt.

Shannon has won some amateur tournaments, I've seen her box at York hall before she turned pro. Conor seems a nice bloke in person but I can understand why people dislike him from the way he comes across on social media.

I'm not a fan of Conor Benn, I was and still am a huge fan of his father Nigel, huge fan.

In my opinion Conor Benn will not win a world title, I'd be shocked if he does, he is a welterweight, look at the welterweight division, it's very solid.

Look at the top names in that weight class, Spence Jr, Crawford, Pacquiao, Porter, Thurman, Mike Garcia, Danny Garcia.. get what I mean, it's going to be hard to judge who is actually better.

With respect, Courtenay is the ONLY fighter in her weightclass in the the UK, on Boxrec she's ranked 1/1 in the UK and she's ranked 30th in the world.

In Courtenays weighclass, there is a woman called Marianela Ramirez who has only won 2 of her last 6, lost 3 of her last 6 and drawn 1,

Ramirez has a record of 6-7-1 and is ranked 12th in the world, 12TH IN THE WORLD.

So the difference is huge between the two and what they will achieve, Courtenay could well end up a world champion because her weight class is so weak and so poor, she has zero domestic rivals, so she should achieve more than Benn but does that mean she's better fighter?

Going down a bit of a tangent but I've become a bit of a supporter of Conor Benn. Been following his progress on IG and his training clips demonstrate that he's made a fair bit of improvement although putting that together in an actual fight is another thing.

He's a bit of a bellend personality as wise and comes across as very lacking in self-awareness. I actually laughed at one promo he did on IG to increase his number of YouTube subscribers where the prize was a chance to spend the day with Conor and eat with him.

But he's looking much improved in the ring since his debut and I hope he does well. He put right the Peynaud performance in the rematch and his destruction of Koivula was very impressive.

It's funny because since the whole pandemic started I've grown a liking to Conor Benn and Anthony Joshua, two boxers who I used to despise.

Agree with pretty much everything here, I do not rate Conor as a boxer, Peynaud beat the crap out of him but he has been working hard to improve and that should be respected, for Conor living in the shadow of his old man was always going to be a poison chalice. As it stands I do not see him beating anyone in the top ten domestically let alone world and It looks like they are using the Yarde blueprint in building up a winning record and avoiding British title fights altogether, which is a shame for boxing fans as he has got some balls and could have been in some classics. If he ever does get a title shot I would expect him to go out on his shield as Yarde did against Kov.

On a side note, here is a video of Shannon winning the Haringey Box Cup in 2015. Notice the 'Shades of Tyson' all out attack style except she gets hit a little more than Mike did. (take that last comment with a pinch of salt).

I think its the complete opposite, people have got under her skin pretty easily. She lost fair and square in her first real fight despite her ****y and confident persona then came out with every excuse under the sun, some people will revel in the fact she couldn't back it up and some won't but imo she hasn't done herself any favours.

Fair enough, I thought it was a close fight, she did well to recover from the knockdown and get back into it but faded in the latter rounds. I was impressed with how she dealt with the range and power of Ball after that disastrous 1st round and she landed some good clean shots (busted Balls eye socket). If she had been KO'd in round 1 and acted like that I would totally understand peoples reaction. Rivalries make great fights in boxing and personally I like a little beef between fighters, bring on the rematch it will be good for women's boxing.

I don’t get why the rematch is happening tho, not on this trend of every matchroom fighter getting a rematch of every time they lose. It’s like there’s Nothing at stake for them.

I take your point about the Matchroom contracts and rematch clauses however in this case it's a fight the public want to see and there is not much else going on in the women's featherweight division until championship level.

Can't say they're avoiding British title fights altogether with Conor Benn. They tried and made an offer to Chris Jenkins to fight Benn for the British title.

But the fights not happening. They have thrown around a few names putting in lowball offers, Theopane said they offered him 3k.

Well it must have been an acceptable enough offer for Jenkins and his team since they accepted it. The fight would've been made if Warren had allowed Jenkins to fight on a Matchroom card. Doesn't sound like the actions of people trying to avoid British title fights altogether.

Lets see if it happens post Covid, the fight has been ordered by the BBBoC so it will go to purse bids if necessary. Jenkins and team are all over this and would fancy to win on points. Benn is the golden goose and stepping stone of the division, If it doesn't go ahead then Benn has bottled it big time.

Completely agree, for me a rematch clause should only be for reigning world champions to have negotiated into a contract.

From what I hear re this rematch, Rachel Ball is going to fight for the world title next with Shannon staying busy/bouncing back with a tune up bout. Bigger picture is a rematch/grudge match for one of the straps.
