Truly bizarre isn't it, 5 pro fights, all at decent venues, 3 against nobodies with losing records, 1 against someone with a solitary draw to their name, a win against a mid 30's 2 wins 2 draws Spanish girl, then steps up, loses to someone probably just above domestic level right now. If Ball wins a title why should Courtenay be allowed to fight for it after no doubt beating a couple of tomato cans to stay busy? I know there isn't the pool of fighters in the women's game yet but to fight for a World Title you need to have done something, it's not like she's a female Lomachenko with this glittering skillset, amateur legend ready to go, it just doesn't seem right, you shouldn't get title fights based on Instagram followers and likes.

Certainly not from an ethical standpoint, but sport is one of the biggest business segments in the world and that's unfortunately what it comes down to.

Edward would likely wheel out old Baza, at Wembley, 2 weeks fresh from a stroke if he, Sky and partners thought it would sell.

    This.
Rematches when the perceived better fighter loses in a shock unexpected defeat are fair enough , far from the case here though . But if it sells then it'll happen , hard one to come back from if the same result though as Eddie has suggested.

This latest meme which broadcasts the idea that depression is 'cured' by people wishing you a Good Morning and not telling you you're **** at boxing is dreadfully obtuse.

I think they're well founded in their intention but they're really quite meaningless. It's a very trivial take on what is a complex and grossly misunderstood problem

It certainly doesn't hurt to be pleasent and compassionate. Depression is a killer and suicide rates have gone up recently, I would imagine quite a few of her followers would be young people with low self esteem so this message seems absolutely appropriate. The same for Tyson Fury, if you had seen his Covid workouts most of his followers are just regular people struggling through life. They look up to people like Tyson and Shannon who have bettered there lives through sport. If it stops one suicide or brightens up someone's day then it's a job well done in my book. Tyson is absolutely spot on with his message of focus, exercise and routine it can do wonders for the mind and body and completely change people's lives.

Exercise can help, absolutely. And his workout routines were good for that reason among others. I don't personally subscribe to the idea that wishing stranger's good morning is going to drag anyone out of depression at all, and I think it's a cheap tool used to scatter away critics by celebrities. It's a nice thing to do certainly and to that end I wouldn't complain but attaching it to suicide rates is very opportunistic and disingenuous, which is where my problem with it comes from. There're a plethora of reasons for increased suicide rates, people not being smiled at isn't one of them.

Just an over simplified solution to a massively complex issue. My wife's sister killed herself 18 months ago. She has no signs of struggling. I doubt someone smiling at her would have changed any outcomes.

Also, just constantly having suicide splattered everywhere actually normalises the concept of suicide. You cannot go an hour without seeing about suicide i dont think this is healthy or helps. Social media is a cancer and is the reason for suicide increases.

More needs to be done to normalise the treatments/helps available. Not just retweeting

"Dont kill yourself tomorrow might be better" type ****. Really frustrated me

Aye, I have really bad health anxiety. If I dont take a citalopram a day the moment I get a headache I am convinced I have a brain tumour. I don't write blogs etc boring people tits off about it. But where relevant am happy to talk about it.

People take insulin to control their blood sugars, I take that. It is simply a vitamin pill in my eyes. 0 side effects and it works extremely well. I take a piraton and one of them every morning. Its grand.

People use mental health as an easy sympathy card and to get likes and retweet. It total bull****
