To me it was not so much the reff but the corner. How they didn't protect there man and throw the towel is beyound me.

Every one that was watching the fight seen cleary that Briggs wasn't going to get in that one big shot that would turn the fight around.

By the mid point of the fight Briggs couldn't even move his head or hold Vitali when he needed.

It was a British ref in there which surprises me even more that the fight was not stopped in the 8th or 10th. After the 8th the fight was completely pointless and should have been stoped.

A KO would have been 10 times better for Briggs. Instead he took an ASS whippen for 12 full rounds and paid the price. His corner left him out to dry.

I wonder if the ref had a side bet that it would go the distance?

He' going to be OK ladies!!

'His biceps is a very serious injury and they have to do surgery, and he'll probably be there for a week," Cohen said. "It might require more than one surgery."

Cohen said rumors that Briggs, 38, had suffered a brain hemorrhage were not true and that he was resting at the hospital and had even joked around with him before he left Germany.

"I wouldn't be here [in New York] if he wasn't OK," Cohen said. "He was in intensive care after the fight for precautionary reasons. The injuries are not life-threatening. He's just banged up, but it's not life-threatening or very serious. Other than the injuries I described, everything else is OK.

Briggs is a huge puncher and thought he had a punchers chance, the chance of landing that money punch until the end.

I really do despair that the modern day fan will try and deny a boxer that chance and ask for a fight ot be stopped after 6. That kind of attitude denys any sort of come back ever happening in the sport, in fact it removes a large chunk of excitement from the game.

At this rate, in ten years time, boxing will be a non contact sport.

Look. I understand why people feel bad for Briggs. But this is the fighting game. Getting hurt is the risk he took before he signed the contract. While he reportedly didn't make as much as one would expect, he still was paid a large sum of money compared to what the average Joe makes. Briggs doesn't want anybody's pity.

I'll agree with the consensus. The ref should've stopped the fight towards the end. But I can also see why he wanted to give Briggs a hail mary chance. Therefore I'm not gonna blame anyone for Briggs' injuries. It's just unfortunate, that's all. Just hope he fully recovers and appreciate the fact that he gave one hell of an effort. No need to point fingers at anyone because there was no malicious intention whatsoever.

One thing is certain, Haye is extremely afraid of Vitali and Vladimir Klitscho. Vitali just put Briggs into intensive care, broke both eye sockets, nose, jaw, giving Briggs a concussion, etc., doctors were afraid that Briggs had bleeding on the brain! All because the referee did not stop the fight. Briggs was too brave for his own good. And the English refere? Is the an Haye fan? He did not want to stop the fight for what reason? Guess...............

And now we learn that Briggs also had a busted ear drum?! The referee did not want to stop the fight because he did not want Vitali to stop Briggs?! He is English and is an Klitschko hater, also an Haye worshipper. That appears to have been the motive. However, Briggs corner should be ashamed of themselves! When I first saw the news about Briggs in intensive care unit, I was scared! Briggs proved himself to be a true warrior, but he was too much a warrior for his own good. I wish Briggs well...............

His corner should've pulled him out sooner.

Briggs was throwing about 5 shots per round in the second half of the fight, all of which were slow, tired-looking arm punches. Not to mention Vitali's never been down. That late KO was never going to happen.

The only thing I can think of was that he'd instructed his team not to stop the fight.

Don't think you can blame the ref really, although it was bizarre seeing a British ref let it go on like that considering our refs are the kings of shitty premature stoppages when the fighter isn't even hurt.
