Have you ever had a fighter you were really high on? Maybe he was a sleeper, of maybe even someone regarded as a huge prospect. But, then after the first time he steps up he loses. You still follow him, thinking it's just a fluke, then the next time he loses to a C level fighter you begin to wonder, then begin to quielty remove yourself from the fighter.

Two fighters come to mind for me.

A few years ago there was a prospect named China Smith, he was like 24 wins in 23 KO's with no loses, then lost to Saul Montana a pair of times, and has become a journeyman, if that. With the name China, I should have known.

The next is Julio Cesar Garcia Jr. At 19 he has, or had over 40 fights and only two loses, both of which were apparently disputed, plus he was 17 or so, so easy to overlook. He gets of ESPN 2 and fails to show up and loses to a 39 year old Troy Browning. He had a lot of fans on here before then, then I haven't seen his name in a while. He's still young, but he was very disinterested in that fight, and I'm not sure I can back him with that kind of attittude.

Don't be afraid, give me some names you backed up as much as you could, until you realized you had made a mistake.

Oh I have WAAAAAY too many to count.

    Recent ones include....

1- Taylor will embarrass Pavlik (tho it almost happened.....sorry, still trying to deal with it....)

2- Travis Simms will dominate Floyd if they ever fought...and is the next BIG thing.

I'll be first, but there should be a line out the door behind me on this one.

"Jeff Lacy is going to KTFO of that overrated, untested Joe Calzaghe!"

Oh, don't worry, it was just the tip of the iceberg for me as well. I thought Gatti had a good chance against Mayweather. A minute into that fight I thought it was the worst prediction I ever made. I also thought Andrade would give Kessler a good run for his money. That was probably my second worse prediction, lol.

In early 2006, I predicted that Lacy would KO Calzaghe

In mid 2007, I said Travis Simms would beat anybody from 147-154

I was dead wrong about the Taylor/Pavlik fight.

When I was 12 or 13 I picked Michael Grant and David Tua to beat Lennox Lewis. Obviously didn't know **** about all three men at the time.

The last time I got something way wrong was probably when I said Toney would outbox and beat Peter in the rematch worse than he did in the first match. I even thought he was serious about getting in shape finally.

Remember the Tremendous Travis Simms Express?

I think it's safe to say that train has been derailed for good.

Spinks against Tyson. I was convinced he would win. Totally convinced.

Just a bit before my time, ,but I imagine I would have favored Spinks too. I would have seen that he beat Holmes, who I regard highly, and thought he could outbox Tyson. I heard Spinks turned down a rematch approaching 10 million dollars by the way.

I did the exact same thing. I was convinced that Billy Blanks and his damned lima bean diet was going to get Toney into shape. I was predicting to myself that Peter would win, at most, 4 rounds. Maybe the first 2, one in the middle, and round 10 or 11 just by a fluke. WRONG!

I recently picked McCall to win. Don't know why, I was just convinced in my head.

I picked Valuev over Chagaev. Cost me some vCash.

And I will admit that while I am NOT an Oscarsexual, I thought he was going to beat Floyd. Not badly, but I thought he was going to win. In hindsight, it was a terrible pick. Truly terrible. Cost me some vCash. I will admit that I made a bad choice.

On the plus side, I picked Pavlik over Taylor, so I felt good.
