I've no problem with your interpretation of the finish, its basically in line with my own.
My problem with you is ,you taking Flynn's gamesmanship and swallowing it unreservedly. Sharkey's trunks were the same height as Dempsey's now just admit this.Fact FFS you can see Sharkey's navel in the knockout shots!
There is no primary sourced quote from the referee that Sharkey's trunks were high.Fact The referee warned Dempsey in an earlier round for low punches, we even know he amended his," keep them up Jack ", to ,"I mean you Dempsey!" Fact .
Facts BTW that you have denied consistently. ps Franklin is more known for his theatrical pieces, which awards has he won for boxing journalism?
Here is a sample of his accuracy Baer was 6'7", he wasn't, he was 6'6".He was a much better boxer than Wladimir Klitschko,do you believe this is true?

    Syracuse Herald June 22 1927

“Referee Jack O'SulIivan said: "The blow which preceded the knockout punch, a left to the Jaw, was a fairly delivered one. It was a right uppercut that landed right on the waist line, but not below. It is true that Dempsey landed several times below the waist line in previous rounds, but in no case were the punches injurious or deliberate, nor was there any protest made by Sharkey previous to the final round”

“The film was run off three times to permit the newspapermen to com- pare their Judgments. The slow mo- tions of the fighters revealed that Dempsey struck three hard rights to the stomach of Sharkey before de- livering the left to the jaw knocked out his opponent. The pictures showed that Sharkey wearing his trunks pulled high”

Originally you denied any low blows were struck ,or that the referee saw any, remember? film of the fight does not show Sharkey's trunks to be high and everyone and his granny has seen this fight!

NEW YORK, The picture operators and laboratory men who-developed the official motion pictures of the Dempsey- Sharkey fight today, announced that 'that the disputed blow which contributed to Dempsey's victory was apparent ly fair. The film was run off three times to the newspapermen to their make there judgments. The slow motions of the fighters revealed that Dempsey struck three hard rights to the stom- ach of Sharkey before delivering the left to the Jaw that knocked out his opponent. The pictures showed that Sharkey was wearing his trunks pulled up higher than Dempsey was wearing his, which led newspapermen to assert today that this fact had probably contributed much to the confusion last night of witnesses to the bout.
