I think that Shaun George in this situation was underrated ... from what i'm watching his speed and movements are far superior than Byrd's ... I think Bryd if anything should've built himself up against someone else - maybe fune tuned his skills a bit and work on his quickness and hand speed ... i'm sure that he was used to fighting slower - stronger guys and was overwhelmed by the speed more than anything.
i was asking myself the same question..why didnt he stop at cruiser instead of draining himself to 174 lbs...anyways,i think he is done and should retire.
Yup, that's exactly what he said. Byrd was fading badly as it was. In comparison to his peak years, his footspeed, reflexes, and defense were a fraction of what they once were and this was only magnified by the fact he lost 40 pounds and had to face a younger, stronger, quicker opponent. He had no defense for the right hand.
It wasn't shocking, Shaun George is an up and coming light-heavyweight who flew under the radar. Many people underestimated him, I didn't though, I knew he was going to win.
