The crazy Foreman v Lyle brawl? Take out Ron and throw in the best version of Earnie Shavers.! Does George still get the win? Or is Shavers getting the W?
Shavers is easily the most overrated fighter on these forums. Foreman at any point of his career would have been too much for a guy with the chin, stamina and defensive ability of Earnie Shavers.
I've got tbh, I'm going to be very surprised indeed to see anyone pick Shavers.. But then again, who knows?
I have George winning. Power and other stuff doesn't matter. Their power is close. Shavers didn't take a good shot, and Foreman could. Still has the potential to be an awesome brawl with many knockdowns. I also think George could stop him early tho
That's the difference between em imo, the chin. Still see Foreman getting knocked around a bit imo but Shavers won't take the full power of George.. I think.
agree. Foreman pounds Shavers, gets off deck from perfectly times punch and puts Shavers on deck a few times for a stoppage
Well Shavers was a harder puncher than Lyle. Not sure if he could have get to Foreman like Lyle did. If he landed flush, who knows what would have happened. George fought Lyle just off of an almost 1 and a half year lay off after getting TKO'd by Ali. I don't think a mentally confident Foreman would have had the problems he had with Lyle. That same Foreman would have had major problems handling Shavers power.
Despite his enormous single punch power, Shavers was actually a pretty poor finisher. Foreman was well under rated as a tactician and had a terrific chin. I just don't see how Earnie can win here although it would have been a terrific fight.
