They would have to be careful and respectful as well tho. Shavers could potentially ice Wilder with one shot imo. Wilder fights careful a lot anyways.

Shavers knocks Ortiz out faster than Wilder, since Ortiz is hopeless against a good right hand and Shavers could sneak his in better than Wilder. Shavers would also knock out Whyte.

Fury, Wilder, and Joshua are all 50/50 fights for Shavers in my opinion.

Fury`s too hard to hit for Shavers.

Whyte has a better defense than Shavers had his catch and punch style would be effective against the limited Shavers.

Are we talking about the same Fury, who's been put down several times by right hands by much lesser fighters than Shavers?

Fury isn't exactly slick and would be slow compared to a lot of the guys Shavers was used to fighting.

The shot he hits Holmes with is my personal favorite. Just the way he hit him. I think Holmes died and cameback to life.

Fury is better at slipping shots than anyone Shavers faced, Ali was all over the place when he fought Shavers.

Is that the same Ortiz that went the distance last night with a soup can?

I didn`t see it but he isn`t getting any younger and what do you think Wilder would do to Ortiz`s opponent last night? yet Luis gave Wilder fits.

I don't see him beating Wilder, Joshua or Fury. He would give up too much height against these caliber of fighters, I actually think he gives Joshua the most trouble (Foreman vs Lyle like perhaps?). Wilder knocks him out and Fury beats him by decision or late round stoppage. I think he has chance against Ortiz and White but may come short.

A ferocious puncher Shavers was in a reality a CW today compared to today HW and one inch taller than Bert Cooper and one inch shorter than Ray Mercer. Shavers might catch them early but in reality the physical disadvantages too much to overcome against today's best HW.

Shavers turned pro on 11/06/69. He lost a decision to Stan Johnson, L4, who was 6-0 on 11/13... this was Shavers 3rd pro fight. Yes, in one week he fought 3 fights. Shavers won his next 10 fights (all by KO) and was 12-1 (12) when he took on the 9-0 Ron Stander on 5/11/70. Stander won, KO5. At this point Shavers had not beat anyone worth mentioning but he was only 6 months in. He won his next 33, 32 by KO. The only guy who went the distance was former LHW world title holder Vincent Rondon who had been stopped by Bob Foster and Ron Lyle. Shavers had stopped a 7-3 Jimmy Young KO3 and Jimmy Ellis KO1 (in 1973). Shavers was now 45-2 (44). Shavers lost his next fight LKOby1 Jerry Quarry. Shavers and Young fought to a draw in a rematch. Ron Lyle stopped Shavers, LKOby6. Shavers beat Henry Clark W10 and KO2. Shavers was 54-5-1 when he took on a faded Muhammad Ali in 1977 for the HW world title. Shavers fought well but lost a 15 round decision. In his next fight Shavers lost a 12 round decision to Larry Holmes. Shavers would stop Ken Norton KO1 and Joe Bugner KO2 but he would also have a few bad losses as well. In a rematch with Holmes in 1979 he was stopped, LKOby11. That fight was for the WBC HW world title and Shavers dropped Holmes in that fight. Shavers retired at 74-14-1 (68) and was stopped 7 times.

He ain't beating Joshua, Wilder, Fury, Ortiz, Whyte, Miller, Povetkin, and a few others but he might beat a lot of other guys.

Shavers punched harder than Mercer and Cooper and had a better reach, he did better v a young Holmes than Mercer did against a 40+Holmes, Mercer did improve his jab by the time he met Lewis though.
