Shavers certainly had the power to take down carnera. Primo's size, boxing ability and stamina may prove to be Earnie's undoing however. But, let's also not forget that Shavers went many rounds with a prime Larry Holmes and even had him on the canvas at one point. Shavers was mostly vulnerable to fighters who could wear him down on the inside and stop him or Ko him. Primo was not a particularly devasting puncher or inside fighter, and I don't know if I see him outboxing Shavers over a long period the way that Holmes or Ali did, both of whom took many hard shots. Additionally, Carnera was seemingly wide open for those looping right hands from Max Baer, and frankly I think Earnie's signature overhand right would likely find a home on Primo as well.

    Here's a vote for Shavers..

Shavers dangerous early but Primo could get off the floor and had better stamina....Primo had better skills than Bob Stallings who beat Earnie and was stronger and Bigger the Tiger Williams...I favor Primo

You should also not forget the devastating uppercut Carnera landed on Sharkey. Those could take out Shavers for sure. Carnera has more chances than Shavers to win this fight.

First thoughts are that Earnie would win by early kayo. Then I started thinking about how Primo kept getting up against Baer and Louis. If you watch his films you will see that he actually possessed good boxing skills though he was slow.

If Primo can survive Shavers' early onslaught and uses his bodyweight to bull and move around his foe, Earnie may gas out and be stopped or cling on to lose a decision.

If Shavers doesn't get him out of there early, I pick Carnera by a behind-on-the-cards KO.

Ever wonder why Carnera never took anyone else out with that "devastating uppercut".

How much money do I get for my guess?

    Here goes...

Uh, because Primo's " devastating uppercut ", only works in fixed fights?

So, you think the Sharkey fight was fixed then?

There is not a cat in hells chance that the second Sharkey fight was fixed.

    Just watch it for yourself.

Do you think the fact that Loughran was past his best and only won 12 of his next 25 fights might have something to do with it? Loughran lost his next 3 after the Carnera fight.Carnera out weighed Loughran by 84lbs and was 7 inches taller,he nearly crippled Loughran by stamping on his feet.Does the fact that Ali took out Bob Foster mean much to you? And bear in mind Ali ,not a big puncher had Foster down 7 TIMES.Carnera ,the owner of the "devastating uppercut" had Loughran down how many times?

    NONE!

This fight is intriguing. We all know Earnie. Basic boxing skills, rather immobile, shaky chin and stamina and a BIG right hand. We all know Primo too. Big, strong, slow, a huge Heart, average boxing skills, a decent punch, and a questionable chin. I see this bout as just about even. Because of Shavers' stamina issues and because Primo got up after all those knockdowns against Baer, I will give this bout to Primo via a UD or possible late rd. TKO.
