I agree. There are a few skilled ones, but otherwise the top is far too thin. Women with very limited boxing skills can become world champions.

 

Queensberry was rightfully criticized last week for a poor running order. The same criticism can be directed at Matchroom.

The main event was outstanding and Zelfa Barrett was a joy to watch, but the rest ? Nothing special. Same level as we see on BT Sport, Sky Sports etc.

 

It was the best UK card of the year so far, obviously we have seen better in previous years, but this year nothing tops that card. Thompson Watkins and Gwynne Woodruff were way down on the undercard which were both good action and evenly matched domestic fights.

 

Shandy Ryan was a real downer on the night just as we are all getting geared up for better fights as the card progresses through the night.

A world title fight after 6 fights tells me as Mr Diamante would put it 'THE TIME HAS COME' for one belt per weight class until there is the equivalent depth of talent to the men to justify more.

For every Katie Taylor who is a legitimate World Champion, we have see some serious stonkers winning World Titles such as Ebanie, Shanny and Terry Harper.

Totally devalues the achievements of genuine World Champions whether male or female.

 

I agree 100%. It also happened with Joyce Zhang when Mayer was chief support but that was not as bad as yesterday. They should have put Gwynne Woodruff as chief support since both are Welsh, or Barrett since he will be fighting Cordina next.

I presume it would be at the Cardiff City Stadium. Foster is with PBC so I don't think it's realistic. Would have to be Navarette maybe but he might move up in weight ? I don't think this will happen and that it will be Barrett next.

 

Sandy Ryan is appalling and shouldn't be on TV. Her trainer's one of the most obnoxious in the sport too, to cheer me up watch 1:45 of this

Let's face it, what Cordina did was hardly over the top, he also stopped to wait in the corner, watched Ogawa try and get up and then celebrate. Probably 90% of boxers that ever knocked anyone would be up for criticism if we're calling Cordina out for the Ogawa KO. Jeez, if you think that's bad watch a highlight reel of Julian Jackson watching the soul fly from a trembling unconscious body as it goes to the canvas and see him do his timber thing, how about Eubank when he strolled around in front of the camera as his opponent lay in a mess in the background. It's boxing, we're here for the KO's, these guys go into gruelling camps for weeks and put their bodies through hell to then face someone that wants to put them to sleep, if you happen to be the one that does it you can be forgiven for having a little bit a celebration, especially if you've just won a World title.

I agree mate I quite enjoy listening to him. I’ve warned to him the last year or so, before I thought he was so irritable but he’s actually quite sound. Seems pretty genuine

 

I really don’t care if a boxer shows sportsmanship after a knockout or not. it’s an oddly British obsession.

the best was the French guy flexing and doing pushups after knocking out Jack Cullen in front of thousands of angry coked up Boltonites, then getting a fingerwagging from the ref as if he was a naughty schoolkid

 

In a brutal sport like boxing it's important to show sportsmanship.

 

@TBC-ASAP I remember what you said about Cordina before. There was no VADA testing for any fight on this card. Rakhimov also got a ban previously for use of a banned substance.
