Shaw: Nobody steps up to bankroll Darchinyan-Donaire II

I agree that Shaw is an idiot, but on this occasion i'm inclined to agree with him on Donaire. He needs to get himself away from Top Rank as soon as possible and move up to 115-118 to get some big fights with the likes of Vic, Montiel or Hasegawa because at the moment he's beginning to become stagnant. If you didn't know who won their fight and only looked at the results they had afterwards, you'd think Vic beat Donaire!

 

Arum probably think Darchinyan is not worth a fight for his boy, Nonito. People already know the outcome of this fight. Another brutal beating of Vic. Now, Shaw is pricing his boy out. It's obvious that he's ducking Nonito.

 

Why are people so quick to dismiss things like this? Have you not yet fathomed that nearly all boxing deals are about money and not about who's scared of who?

 

Bob Arum has played down the chance of a rematch with reigning IBF/WBC/WBA super flyweight champion Vic Darchinyan saying “if Nonito had never fought Darchinyan, we’d be happy to do that fight. But he fought him and he beat him - and 99 times out of 100, if not more, he will beat him again.”
Arum would then talk about the economics or a rematch. He noted there were several worthy Mexican and Puerto Rican fighters in this weight class who really draw and have a fan base.

There’s a whole host of Mexicans and Puerto Ricans where we can make big, big fights with much bigger money,” Arum said.
Taking a swipe at the cocky Australian, Arum said Darchinyan “is in the rear view mirror.”
He said that the last time they fought it was not close or controversial because Donaire beat Darchinyan “from the first round on.”
Donaire says he will “fight anyone” whom Top Rank promoter Bob Arum puts in front of him and insisted “I am not afraid and I will fight whoever is out there.”

That's it. Arum prefers other fighters w/ fanbase like Montiel and Morel. Unfortunately, these fighters are also avoiding him like plague. We can't herefore blame Nonito for his career in doldrums.

 

Arum talks nonsense. Surely he can't believe he's managing the career of Donaire well. Vic has unified a division and is now looking for a title in a third weight class. What's he done with Donaire recently?

 

Arum know his economics. Vic has no fan base to speak of unlike the Mexican and Rican fighters. Let's be real. Boxing is business and promoters do not just splurge their money w/out ROI. I can understand Arum. He wants to negotiate on a position of strength. Vic's camp should call out Nonito's camp, not the other way around.

 

Nonsense - Vic is one of the only big names below featherweight along with Juanma and, if he fights again, Izzy.

 

Did Nonito, himself, express interest in a Vic rematch though recently?

I'm convinced Vic would like to see his career culminate in a fight with Vazquez.

He can always try. But I don't think he will win. This is a big mismatch.

 

How many Armenians will see this fight? I don't think the Aussies care about him.

 

You have to admit what has Donaire been doing lately?, nothing big enough at all. If anything you see the majority of fans talking about Darchinyan's recent fights than Donaire's. Darchinyan just beat Mijares in a fight he was expected to lose and knocked out Arce, anything major from Donaire yet?
