Shaw: Nobody steps up to bankroll Darchinyan-Donaire II

I think you are a complete idiot who desperately tries to get attention on a boxing forum. The epitome of pathetic, but...even though you probably have never listened to them, the band in your avitar are amazing and one of my favorites.

 

Donaire gave Vic a lesson in the ring.

Now it's time he learned a lesson outside the ring from Vic, about how to manage a career. Vic lost, but has gone on to greater fame, glory and riches. How does that work?

Well for a start Donaire has had some bad luck. He left Shaw, cause Shaw is a fat ****wit who was not getting Nonito any fights. Shaw basically gave Donaire no choice but to leave - then turns around and does everything he can to stomp on Donaire's career after Nonito does leave.

Now Donaire's new camp are doing nothing for him. He should be in title fights right now. But he is knocking out potential contenders instead of getting the title fights. He is looking good, he is getting more experience, he is keeping his name out there. But he isn't getting the big fights. He is years younger than Vic and can afford a little bit of time before he needs to really establish himself at the top - but why wait?

People who think Vic will win a rematch - I can kinda see where you are coming from. He was way overconfident in the first fight; this is not surprising given that he was almost killing people when he won. He trashed Glenn Donaire. He figured it was a walk in the park, and admitted afterwards that he was too cocky and had learned his lesson.
It's also clear that he has improved since then, gone back to some of the fundamentals that made him a distinguished amateur boxer.

But to my eyes Donaire has also improved. He is just that little bit slicker, his counters are supernatural, his lefthook is devastating. His hands seem even faster and more accurate - this means his punches are even more devastating. His hands are smart, they find holes in defences that his brain probably doesn't even have to process.

Vic can't bully Donaire, who is just as strong. He can't outbox him. He can't pressure him cause Donaire will counter him all night long. I can't really see any game plan where Vic can win. Unless he comes up with something really clever against Nonito's counter left and his left hook.

Even if he comes up with a good plan, I don't think Vic is smart or disciplined enough to stick to it.

Vic has balls of steel, he would take the rematch (or most fights) in a heartbeat. Anyone who says otherwise should go straight onto your ignore list while they spend a few years going off and learning about boxing.

Donaire is a super fighter who has the world at his feet. What will happen from here? Who knows, but it would be pure disappointment if his career continues to be mismanaged (or sabotaged) like it has been.

Arum is useless.

Shaw is a piece of ****.

And Darchinyan was an Olympian who won a number of international tournaments. What's your point?

I think that over the course of his last few fights, Vic has proven he can fight smarter if he wants to. I think part of it was that he thought he would walk over Nonito like he did to his brother, so he came in swinging for the fences instead of trying to outbox Nonito and let the KO come naturally.

Shaw saying he wants $2M is bull**** though. Marquez and Vasquez barely made a million each for their third fight. Darch has got to be lucky to be making mid-6 figures for the fights he's had lately. Nobody gets that kind of coin in the lower weight classes, and Shaw knows that good and well.

Nonito wants to fight Darch again. And Darch wants to fight Nonito. Anyone that says either of these guys are ducking is off their head. It's just the promoters.

 

I don't think Vic can outbox Nonito. He can never change his stripe as brawler who imposes his will on his opponent. Nonito is slick fighter who can dance around him without getting hit while looking for opening to fire his combinations especially his vaunted left.
