Probably. Either fight would have to take place in Cali. Bradley's fans would much rather see him fight an undefeated, youn champion, rather than a glorified gatekeeper. In fact, Alexander has a good following in St. Lous. The fight would well there also.
Outisde of the boxing hardcore fanbase no one even knows who Alexander is, Collazo is cheap to sell but atleast people know who he is.
Like WHO? No one knows who Collazo is, and 99% of even hardcore fans could care less about him. I mean... do you see any Collazo groupies, or Collazo haters on this forum? No. You know why? Cause nobody gives a **** about him!
You are using a very small sample, Collazo was featured on HBO against big named guys like Mosley,Hatton and Berto. The hardcore fan base couldnt care less about him, but outside of it those who do watch boxing know who he is more than Alexander who only fought....what? Corley and Witter.
Alexander is an undefeated champion. You could easily market that angle. What does Collzao bring to the table? How do you market that fight?
I still believe that Ortiz is the future of the 140/47 pound weight classes, and if he has his mind together, I would still pick him to beat Bradley.
Former dangerous world champion whose already been in the ring with the best and I would use highlights of him against Hatton and Berto when he had them both wobbling around.
So you're going to market the fight as Bradley going against a has been who came up short in his biggest fights? I don't think that's as attractive as two young, undefeated, world champs going at it.
I don't know why you would be confident in him beating Bradley, but ok. Ortiz seemed tenative last nigh and he's already shown that he lacks heart. Bradley is mentally and physically tough. He would make a rough night for Ortiz and Ortiz would eventually fold.
I bet you almost none of the casual fans who might have seen him on HBO even remember him. Casual fans have short memories for fighters unless its either a big name, or a fighter who gave a memorable performance. Collazo has neither. And furthermore.... he's a welterweight, so whats even the point of Bradley fighting him? Tim has plenty of good fighters to face at 140. Collazo is totally irrelevant in the sport.
Came up short? Collazo arguably won both the Berto and Hatton fights. Would you say Sergio Martinez is a fighter who came up short in his biggest fights? and far from it to say Collazo is a has been when hes only 2 years older than Bradely. Hes still very well in the mix just not at the elite in such a very deep division.
But he still lost both those fights. He hasn't beat anyone of note in years. Actually I would. He was knocked out by Margo, lost to Williams, and drew vs. Cintron. However, he still has belt. He brings something to the table. Age doesn't determine whether or not you're a has been. Collazo really isn't in the mix. Nobody is beating down his door to fight him.
