Yeah, thanks. So, it was a close fight (23:20) and Usyk was far from an experienced boxer at that time (he had started boxing at 15 years old).

 

Means nothing in reality he was like 19 year's old, Daniel dubious is still only 20, just goes to show fighters can improve dramatically from such a young age.

 

But it's kind of strange how they both fought under 75 kg at that time, and now Usyk is at CW and Porter's at welterweight.

 

In fact, makes sense to me. Usyk must have matured since then, and Shawn started his pro career at around this weight.

More importantly, this just tells us that Porter is a definition of weight bully and he based his high-pressure style on his physicality. IMO.

 

Porter is 5'7 and an average sized WW. He's not killing himself to make weight, was comfortable against Broner at 145 catchweight. He'd be severely undersized at MW and small for JMW.

There’s probably 5-7 fighters who are active currently who fight at there actual walking around weight. The entire sport is basically fighters dropping as much weight as they can so they can impose there style and size over another

 

Fun fact: I was 6'2" at age 15 and weighed 170 pounds. And that 's eating my mom's Italian dinners.

P.S. I weigh more than that now.

 

Also when he was an amateur he also used to play football so he had stay bulky.

Also what else is very interesting is........

On 2006-12-02 Usyk fought Shawn Porter at 75kg / 165lbs

On 2008-02-26 Usyk fought Yousef Abdelghani at 91kg / 200lbs

So in just 1 year and 2 months Usyk gained a whopping 35lbs.

 

Also note how small porter looked against jacobs let alone usyk, Man i wish there was footage of that fight.

 

I thought he could have gotten the nod as well. Wonder what all the Eastern Euro Supremacists think of Porter giving Usyk an L.
