I'd say that its somewhat similar to when Guerrero beat Berto a while back Berto lost to Ortiz but beating him still gained you some hype And Berto didn't even string together many wins At least Broner has
Yeah but he's doing his old (tomato) Can Man thing. Not a top guy at the weight. Gómez has better recent wins..
Oh don't get me wrong, I don't really think Broner has done much and beating him shouldn't be as big as it is but I'm saying that it will be seen that way I actually have come to appreciate Maidana but he was way over hyped after he beat Broner
Rummy, kirk, Zak, Mac... I wont be home for several hours. Can any of you just slap a poll on this for me? Standard 5 option type. Gómez pts/Gómez stoppage/draw/Porter pts/Porter stoppage w/ let's say a 60 days cutoff date, and non-anonymous. Thanks! :good
I don't think I could rationalize the rematch if he beat Broner. I would think he'd at least be in a holding pattern for a top 15 guy, That being said, I think Broner beats him. Size notwithstanding Broner just isn't as sloppy as Porter on the inside.
He'd be ridiculed by boxing media and fans for taking this fight after beating Broner. Personally, I do not think it is the worst fight, but he would be in line for a bigger fight. This sounds like a better option for a comeback fight if he loses to Broner. I disagree that Kamegai and Paredes are better opponents than J. Molina and Taylor. Maybe even, but there is no clear gulf in class between the those sets of fighters. Kamegai and Paredes have lost everytime they have made a step-up. Molina at least has a couple of good resume wins.
DeGale paddled Porter's ass in the amateurs. 'Victory was sealed by the ever impressive James DeGale, who showed just what hes made of against the highly regarded Shawn Porter. DeGales first two rounds were nothing short of awesome as he showed a Cuban style in picking and scoring at will. In the second half of the fight he showed the flaws that have cost him at big tournaments, namely the lack of concentration. DeGale took his foot off the gas, but still took a comfortable 23-4 victory.' So he paddled both Dirrell and Porter's asses while only operating at 45% of maximum ability and he iced Andre Ward lite Brandon Gonzales when he was only at 30%. Gonzales gives Ward hell in sparring. :yep
Porter will beat Broner imo. I think he's too strong for him, even if he lacks the talent. Broner is pretty flat footed, he won't deal well with Shawn.
Porter has improved since he beat Gomez the first time, Gomez had to use every dirty trick in the book to beat Kamegai and got a ridiculously one sided decision on top of that, Gomez won but not by those wide margins. Pointless rematch Porter would probably KO him this time.
