They both neutralize each other pretty well..if they both box it would be slow paced and very tentative...maybe abit of a jab fest. There isn't really a mid range here. It could go inside but it would be rather messy and rough. If Maidana starts finding his right hands Porter will start pulling some worried faces & start backing up into the ropes. Might turn into a brawl at that point. Porter would be needing to use his slightly faster foot & handspeed to get off and get away back to his jab...but with Maidana's size it's quite hard to do.
It would be a fun fight for sure. I think the Maidana which beat Broner would beat Porter, but if the fight happened in the near future I'd have to go with Porter. Maidana has been living the good life, would have a lot of weight to lose and ring rust, and Porter seems to be the hungrier fighter.
Porter is the naturally bigger man though and I don't mean height. Maidana isn't even tall though either he's only an inch taller. Maidana gets beat up badly, every thing he does is just a poor man's version of Porter Edit- actually the may even be the same height and porter has a reach a advantage.
Maidana's resume shts all over Porters. Porter might be able to outpoint him in a technical fight using his footwork to avoid him...but beat him up? nah. Maidana also holds the advantage of having R.Garcia. Porter is so predictable Robert will work him out and give Maidana a good enough gameplan.
