Porter seems like a really nice guy. And he is never an easy night for anybody. But, by the same token, he just never wins the big fights. Not against guys his size or bigger. Prime Cuevas would hit him with a lot harder shots than Spence did.

Cuevas stops him. Porters style plays right into Cuevas hands

Porter is at a huge disadvantage here stylistically.

Cuevas would land at will with huge shots as Porter would be walking forward.

For Porter, it would like finding himself in a lion's den. Cuevas would ko him by round 4.

Cuevas would KO him in a short, vicious bout.

Agreed, this one would be ugly with Porter flopping on the canvas several times before the stoppage.

    1) The Fans win.

    2) Cuevas wins via knockout. He was pretty savage when he was on form.

I held no illusions that many or any would choose Porter, this is classic overall.

While I also don’t think Porter is great by any stretch....I am not sure I find Pipino to be one either.

Perhaps I need another look at Cuevas as it has been a few years. But what I remember was him losing to the best he fought (said above about Porter) , being a limited boxer with huge power, but having lackluster opposition that he looked good against.

What can you share with me about Cuevas, or what fights should I check out where he looked great against a very good/great opponent?

Personally I don’t see much separating these 2 apart from classic and modern eras.

The x factor in this fight is that Porter fights with day before weigh ins and is a big weight cutter. If day before weigh ins were allowed, I think he'd tire Cuevas out and outwork him. With same day weigh ins, we might not even see Porter at 147.
