Great fight its difficult to pick. If it stays standing Ellenberger has a clear advantage and obviously Shields is the better BJJ fighter but can Shields get Ellenberger down ? One other thing that might come into play is that Shields actually has a decent jab which might prevent Ellenberger from getting off those big power shots of his.

BJ said he didn't feel like a winner against Fitch or seem too excited when asked about a rematch. But you're probably right.. There may be no way around UFC matchmaking. I thought Penn lost the fight, but at least Fitch is coming off an injury/surgery :!:
Penn agree'd to the rematch as soon as he landed in Hawaii , he said he'd thought about it on the plane , and he wanted the fight , nobody is really to say whether he does or he doesnt apart from him , that said he's probably got flashbacks of the savage pounding he took in the 3rd round , coupled with his suprising tactic of taking Fitch down (by Fitch's own admission he trained zero defensive wrestling for Penn) which should in theory be nullified by Fitch in the re match , its hard to see BJ wanting this fight , and the UFC are a gang of ass holes , lets be real about it , Penn has 1 maybe 2 fights left , in a division which is too big for him , they dont give a **** about Penn , and really they never have . Its definatley not a case of Penn's done , because he isnt , here is a guy who weighed in on the scales in trainers and jeans , and convincingly beats Fitch in the opening 2 rounds , that is not a guy who's done :deal BJ's problem's is that he is in between weights and cannot make 55 the right way anymore , and he is clearly un motivated , there his problem's , if there was a 165 lb weight division in MMA BJ would be ranked top 3 in the world , but you have a point , an unmotivated Penn is a Penn not worth tuning in for , we have all seen what the great BJ Penn is capable of , and we want to see nothing less than that , i agree seeing BJ not at his best can be painfull
A question for all Can Jake Sheilds take Jake Ellenberger down ??? My presumtion is that he is going to have a ****ing hard time doing it , for me this is a shocking stylistic clash for Sheilds , and i think he's losing this fight , Ellenberger's wrestling is as good as Sheids wrestling , his stand up is superior , and for me barring JJ he has an edge on Sheilds in all the other departments . Im really not sure Sheilds can achive much against Ellenberger by pulling guard , Ellenbergers top game should not allow for Sheilds to wrap him up and gain a position , that said , Sheilds only needs half an opening and before you know it your on your back in his side control or worse more mount . I see Ellenberger winning a UD here with superior wrestling and stand up , i see Sheilds having his moments but i like Ellenberger here ..........

Jon Fitch is a big, natural welterweight, and is the consensus world #2 in the division behind GSP. His record in the ufc prior to facing BJ was 13-1, the only loss being to the peak version of the greatest ww ever. On that run, he beat Thiago Alves, Diego Sanchez, Akihiro Gono, Paulo Thiago, Ben Saunders and Thiago Alves again - all welterweight contenders. Penn stepped up from lightweight, gave away big size advantages in pretty much every department, and became the only man other than GSP to prevent a win for Fitch. In every way and whatever way you consider it, that result was an achievement for Penn. If no welterweight other than GSP was able to compete evenly with Fitch, a lightweight certainly should not have been able to. But that is due to the skills, technique and mentality of Penn. You're talking utter ****. :-(
