The kind of pro ZUFFA hypocrasy we've come to expect from Sherdog. Lesnar was given the #1 spot after being inactive for a year with a 4-1 record, he did not have to "beat the man" and the guy who did is still below Brock even though Lesnar is coming off of an embarrising ass kicking.

Horse ****. I'd just roll my eyes and say "Oh well, it's Sherdog". You can say anything bad on there or the thread gets deleted and you get canned.

If Zuffa had taken over NASA and Sherdog where doing the reporting I'd guess the moon landings would have looked something like this.

Dana responding to criticism by blaming everything on "crazy russians" and asking the rest of the press whether they "wanted to be a ****ing astronaut" rather than a "fake cosmonaut".

Its a shame what Sherdog have become. As the number 1 site in MMA they're sorely lacking in quality. You simply cant use it as a premier source of MMA news because of their bias for the UFC which is largely in part because the UFC has no competition. Sherdog "got to eat...."

Meh! Everyone knows Sherdog is good for nothing more than looking up fighter's records. Move on like everyone else has.

Very stupid words. If Fedor, Werdum or Overeem were to win, I think they would be considered the best in the world bar none.

Fact is, UFC heavies don't really fight that often so their rankings won't change as rapidly as SF fighters. Only JDS, Cain and Mir are coming off of positive fights. Everyone else is in doubt.

Concluding that Cain is still "up there by a mile above the rest" no matter what happens in the Strikeforce tournament is such an ignorant statement.
How can you possibly conclude that when there hasn't even been a single match yet. Are you telling me that if Fedor were to roll through tournament that Cain is still better than him?
    Such stupidity.

As I said its classic Sherdog rankings tactics, when it favours the UFC its impossible to get the #1 spot without beating the #1 fighter, when it doesnt then guys like Lesnar take that spot with a 4-1 record while sitting on their ass for a year while Werdum actually beats Fedor.

Who has Cain actually beaten? Kongo and Rothwell who werent ranked and certainly werent considered near to the top 10 in terms of ability, Nog who was #5 if I remember correctly and is generally viewed as on the decline and then Lesnar who while #1 is still only 5-2 and showed gaping flaws in his game.

After the first round of this HW GP I'd say...

Fedor - Would have a good case for the #1 spot if he beats Bigfoot, I could see Cain being ranked above him up it would clearly be close.

Werdum - Has a good case for being #1 right now having beaten the previous #1, if he also beat Overeem I'd have him ahead of Cain, Kyle, Bigfoot, Fedor, Allistair is a better run of wins IMHO.

Overeem - Not worthy of the #1 spot if he beats Werdum but I would have him top 3.

Then though you have the semi final between Fedor/Bigfoot and Overeem/Werdum which looks like its going to happen before Cain fights again. If doesnt matter who wins that, they deserve to be #1, Bigfoot would maybe be close to Cain but Fedor, Overeem and Werdum would clearly be above him.

I completely stopped listening to sherdog radio when Breen claimed that Cain was way above a prime Nog/Fedor. Breen is the worst sell out since he does have knowledge of the game.

Kind of reminds of why Steven Holdsworth was never given a job on SKY Sports. He's a sports journalist who pulls no punches and calls it exactly how he see's it. Unlike he's peers over on SKY he's not a company man and wont schill for anyone. Breen is just a kid. He's made a dam good living off MMA and he'll say whatever it takes so he can continue to get paid. This is a guy that essentially grew up on Japanese MMA and Pro Wrestling. Now he's schilling for the UFC. He simply has ZERO credibility as a journalist when he says things like this.

Even worse he said that before Cain beat Brock (not that it should have really changed his outlook anyway).

It was right after Cain beat a completely shot Nog, so his reasoning was based on that fight and Cain's wins over Rothwell and Kongo. and it wasn't that he said Cain could have been better but that he was in a completely different class then 2002 Nog.

    New breed my ass.

I can sympathize with Sherdog and many other MMA sites as I can see there in a tricky position, most of them an MMA specliszed portals and the UFC is in such a dominant position its hard to go agenst that without risking there livelyhood, what else is Jordan Breen going to do for a career?

The problem is that theres really no mainstream media bothering to put the sport under the mircoscope the way they do boxing. Right now you have a mixtures of newbies to the sport who simpley don't have the knowledge to follow anything but the UFC line and shills(Ioli, Cofield, ESPN generally) that the general public hasnt cottened onto yet. These larger outlets that don't depend on MMA should be the places challanging the UFC's(and indeed any promoters) company line and forcing MMA to grow up but there not.
