    The reason Mundine started his career at super middleweight was for 2 reasons;

    1) Playing such a tough body contact sport like rugby league saw him bulk up over the years. It was considered less harsh on his body to keep a couple of extra kilos of muscle. Over time, training as a boxer, he has lost a little naturally and can make middleweight without fuss.

    2) The idea was to get to a title fight ASAP. Not only did the middleweight division contain classy contenders in every organisation but the belief was that IBF super middleweight champ Sven Ottke was there for the taking and Mundine could be fast tracked to a crack at his crown by winning a regional title combined with a little help from Ray Wheatley.

    Mundine will only be advantaged by dropping to middle.

    As for Sturm, he is a high class fighter who lifts for the big events. For Mundine/Sturm to happen the trick is to make Sturm's people believe the reward outweighs the risk. How they do that has me beat. :huh
