Shields. You can't be criticized for having too little competition at the largest (aka H2H best) legitimate weight class. You are the best. Shields dominated almost everybody and beat everybody she was asked to, in the largest real divisions women's boxing has.
I know I'm laughing because you've been consistent with your hate of all things women's boxing I think it's hilarious.
To become the #1 at MW all you have to do is be better than 20 other women The #3 ranked MW is 9-8-3 To become the #1 at SMW all you have to do is be better than 30 other women The #6 ranked SMW is 3-4-1 To become the #1 at LMW all you have to do is be better than 60 other women The #6 ranked LMW is 12-6-0 The lower down in weight you go the much deeper the talent pool Stop acting like the women's talent pool is remotely as deep as the men's I'm sure it will improve with time but the overall depth and quality as of now is very poor
Shields is a damn good fighter, I feel like a fool for not checking her out properly before dismissing her. if she was male she would still be good.
Everybody knows its Shields. I think Taylor and Serrano need to run it back because that fight was a draw imo and could have went to Serrano. Plus the persoon fight was hella close as welll..
She got one bad decision against Persoon and you guys have been harping on that forever. Shields has a crap resume when you take into account the total lack of depth at her weight classes.
Shields > Taylor. All her wins are undebatable. And she has two really good Ws against Marshall and Hammer. And she won both fights clearly. Taylor has two or three Ws on her record which could or even should be Ls. Saying that...Taylor definitely fought the better opposition overall. But that's not Shields fault. There is just a less amount of quality opponents in the higher weight classes.
Before the Marshall fight I wasn't entirely sold on Shields. But in that fight she raised her level very significantly and It may be the best performance ever by a female fighter. Marshall is very good but simply wasn't allowed to display her pretty special skills. She (Marshall) is probably better than anyone Taylor has faced- she's maybe better than any female except Taylor. Shields, despite the poorer competition at higher weights, is the best at any division she could make- that's super-welter to super-middle. It's true that there are many more boxers at lower weights but many of them are very poor. McCaskill, undisputed at welter is very crude- even Serrano is not a great boxer but like McCaskill has had success largely through energy and aggression. Taylor has been in some very close fights including one that most observers believe she lost. Shields has been extraordinarily dominant in almost every round of every fight. She's achieved so much and could go on being dominant for 7 or 8 years. It's Shields for me.
