Yeah I just don't see it and I certainly don't believe DAZNs numbers. Nobody watches women boxing, not even women.
I don't mind the bigger lasses as they carry power. Normal sized girls like katie etc it's pretty much amateur feather dusting.
There was definitely high interest in Taylor v Serrano. The Garden was rammed that night and its not easy to pack that arena.
Oh yeah the Irish and Pueta Ricans turn out over there especially with such cheap tickets. I just doubt 1.5m were watching it. That's what 10-15% of DAZN entire worldwide sub? Not even 10% of boxing fans care about women's boxing.
I agree 100% due to the history between the 2 boxers. What an event it will be and great that they went away from the PPV plan. The viewing numbers will be huge on Sky.
There's that Noel Gallagher quote where he says something along the line of "if you tell 10 million people you're the best band in the world and only 10% believe you, that's still 1 million people who think you're the best band in the world". Hearn was employing the same tactic when he says that Taylor vs Serrano wasn't just the biggest women's fight of all time, but one of the biggest fights of all time. There was a reasonable level of interest in it and it did alright, but that's about it. The idea that it was some super fight with the eyes of the world watching is simply not true. It wasn't even the biggest fight of that night, never mind one of the biggest fights of all time. Although I think it was Trafford who tried to claim that more people in the UK sat up till 5 in the morning to watch Taylor vs Serrano than Mexicans who watched Valdez vs Stevenson in a big unification fight on prime time TV
The upside in lying is what though? Sky certainly won't be able to lie as the ratings will be published. DAZN also said the app was the highest grossing sports app globally on Apple and Google over the fight weekend, as well as the most downloaded sports app in Ireland on both iOS and Android. Quite the contrast to people saying nobody will know how to watch the Taylor fight in Ireland as clearly clicking a few buttons on a phone with or smart TV is too difficult for her fans.
Must admit, because of the 'beef' - which appears to be real for once, even if it's relatively laid back compared to Chisora levels - I will tune into this. Even more so now it's thrown in with the Sky sub.
