This content is protected Shields was robbed. Embarrassment seeing the score screen at the end. I dont see how they gave it to Marshall.
I did think Shields landed more and overall got the better of Marshall in a close fight. But the computer scoring system back them sucked, her body punches basically wouldn't of been counted and combination punching too gets underscored. But even under a more traditional scoring system I had Marshall winning the first round and last round. So it was 2 rounds each on my scorecard but I thought Shields won her rounds more convincingly. I will add that Marshall there looks like a very different boxer, much more traditional, straight up Euro style compared to the more relaxed style she adopts now and Marshall also clearly has grown more of the two as the size difference now is more obvious. The speed of Shields was clearly an issue for Marshall, notably on the inside, that might very well be an issue for Marshall this time around too unless she is able to tie her up.
I just sat through that mess, Shields once again proving what a know nothing dummy she is. Yes, clearly Marshall deserved the win, in amateur boxing, the objective is hit and not get hit. Shields was either falling short of landing the majority of her big shots all night, or flurrying on the arms of Marshall, which are not scoring punches. At best Shields took the 2nd, which I didn't give her, and that's it.
I don't know what fight you were watching. Savannah was mugging, hugging and holding for the majority of the fight. Through two Youtube viewings and discussions about this fight, the dominant opinion at face value was that this was a clear loss for Marshall. There were plenty of unbiased Brits who sided with the opinion that Shields was robbed. The reputation that follows Olympic style scoring in boxing is scrutinized like most of the corrupted scoring that goes with the Olympics, namely figure skating.
